Ohio prospects to watch at Midwest Live

<p>Midwest Live is the only June Live Period event hosted in Ohio this summer. With over 100 teams coming to the Cedar Point Sports Center from Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky and West Virginia, there will be college coaches at every level scouting and looking for players. We recently posted our Kentucky and West Virginia prospects to watch so click <a href="https://prephoops.com/2023/06/kentucky-west-virginia-prospects-to-watch-at-midwest-live/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">here</a> for those prospects. In this article we'll go alphabetical order on each team and list off the Ohio prospects on every team college coaches will want to keep an eye on. Prospects are ordered by grade in this article.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Akron Buchtel</h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1359617' first='Zevin' last='Gadson'], 6'2 SG 2024</p>   <p>Buchtel graduated their entire core from their state championship squad but bring in Gadson, one of the best athletes in Ohio. They also apparently have a 6'10 transfer from out of state who has been playing with them in June.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Akron Archbishop Hoban</h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1222351' first='Jonas' last='Nichols'] 6'3 SG 2024</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1773220' first='Sam' last='Greer'], 6'7 C 2026</p>   <p>The defending Division I state champs, Nichols had a handful of low to mid major offers while Greer is a top football linemen prospect with a couple basketball offers as well.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Akron STVM</h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1919270' first='Jayson' last='Walker'], 5'10 SG 2024</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1691977' first='John' last='Whorton'], 6'7 C 2025</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1742316' first='Noah' last='Chambers'], 5'10 PG 2025</p>   <p>A new look Irish squad will be led by the fast rising Whorton, who looks like a scholarship prospect at either the Division I or II level. Walker is a small college guard target while Chambers comes from Shaker Heights to boost their back-court.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Antwerp</h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1187132' first='Landon' last='Brewer'], 6'4 SG 2024</p>   <p>Brewer is a scholarship level prospect who is still waiting on his first offer, a must watch for Division II and NAIA programs</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Badger</h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1373983' first='Duncan' last='Moy'], 6'4 SG 2024</p>   <p>Moy is another wing guard who is waiting on his first offer, another must watch for Division II, NAIA and low major programs.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Brecksville-Broadview Heights</h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1148120' first='Luke' last='Skaljac'], 6'1 PG 2024</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1691983' first='Junior' last='Kambomba'], 6'3 SF 2024</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1432057' first='Brady' last='Ganley'], 6'2 SG 2025</p>   <p>Brecksville projects to be one of the top teams in NEO led by Skaljac. The rising senior point guard is currently pursued hard by a couple mid majors but has the potential to play at the right high major fit. Kambomba has been offered by Rio Grande and is a scholarship target. Ganley is a rising Junior who should play a big role this season, a name for college programs to get eyes on early.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Brunswick</h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1708729' first='Tommy' last='Morgan'], 6'5 PF 2024</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1708688' first='Trey' last='Drexler'], 5'11 PG 2026</p>   <p>Morgan is a rising senior who has some interest from scholarship and small college programs, a skilled wing forward. Drexler was recently offered by Akron and is one of the top point guards in Ohio's 2026 class.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Canal Winchester Harvest Prep</h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1353043' first='Adonus' last='Abrams'], 6'2 SF 2024</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1432008' first='Brandon' last='Roddy'], 6'1 PG 2025</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1675745' first='Khalil' last='Daniels'], 6'2 SF 2025</p>   <p>Roddy has been a staple for Harvest Prep since he was a freshman, one of the top guards in central Ohio's 2025 class. Harvest Prep also has some small college targets in Abrams and Daniels.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Canton McKinley</h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2028944' first='Je'Cis' last='Moody'], 6'2 SG 2024</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1497737' first='Reed' last='Sims'], 6'2 SG 2025</p>   <p>McKinley has a new coach and Moody is a good piece to rebuild with alongside Sims at the wing guard position.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Casstown Miami East</h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1068245' first='Wes' last='Enis'], 6'2 SG 2024</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1068246' first='Jacob' last='Roeth'], 6'1 PG 2024</p>   <p>Enis is one of the top small school players in Ohio's 2024 class. An impressive athlete and creator, Enis has been a priority for Division II and NAIA programs and should be checked out by low majors as well. Njie and the Greenberg twins all project to be scholarship targets at some level. Mahaffey has been one of the fastest risers of the spring and is gaining Division I interest. George, Havens and Mason are all small college targets. Land is one of the highest upside prospects at the event with multiple high major offers. Kazanecki is set to breakout this winter and should wind up a scholarship target with continued development. McCutchan is a top football recruit recently offered by Kentucky who will help out as well this winter on the hardwood.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Cincinnati Fairfield</h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1432021' first='Kameron' last='Sanders'], 6'0 PG 2025</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1432056' first='Gabe' last='Clemmons'], 6'9 C 2025</p>   <p>A new look Fairfield squad, Sanders was offered by Youngstown State recently. Clemmons a long-term upside play but his size and production will have scholarship programs very interested. They have a few new faces in 2025 that could make a name for themselves this weekend.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Cincinnati Mason</h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1222359' first='Ben' last='Menker'], 6'5 SF 2024</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1955293' first='Abib' last='Abib'], 6'7 PF 2024</p>   <p>Matt DeBrose, 6'0 SG 2024</p>   <p>Mason is the largest public school in the state and always has talent. This year they're led by a senior trio of Menker, Abib and DeBrosse who should attract a ton of small college interest.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Cincinnati Princeton</h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1949204' first='Brendan' last='Braddix'], 6'3 SG 2024</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1688313' first='Cliff' last='Cass'], 5'11 PG 2025</p>   <p>An injury to big man [player_tooltip player_id='1432054' first='Kieran' last='Granville-Britten'] hurts this squad but they still have a scrappy group, 2028 prospect Kam Mercer played with them last weekend. One of the top middle schoolers in the country.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Cincinnati Withrow</h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1421135' first='Michael' last='Johnson'], 6'5 SF 2024</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1705960' first='Chris' last='Henry Jr'], 6'5 SF 2026</p>   <p>Johnson is one of the more intriguing wings in the state. With a lot of natural talent, it's all about putting the pieces together for Johnson. For Henry Jr, he's one of the top football prospects in the country but also a highly productive forward on the hardwood as well.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Cleveland Heights</h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1432029' first='Braylyn' last='Irby'], 6'3 SG 2025</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1432059' first='Jayquan' last='Stubbs'], 6'5 C 2025</p>   <p>Cleveland Heights graduated a strong core of seniors last year to the next level, Irby and Stubbs are good building blocks to reload with, but there's more talent for myself to find on the Tigers this weekend and this winter.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Cleveland Saint Ignatius</h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1491436' first='Reece' last='Robinson'], 6'7 PF 2024</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1426737' first='Samuel' last='Springer'], 6'7 PF 2024</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1950566' first='Jack' last='Zapolnik'], 5'11 PG 2024</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1368787' first='Matt' last='Ellis'], 5'11 SG 2024</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1491439' first='Quinn' last='Woidke'], 6'1 PG 2025</p>   <p>Ignatius lost Ace Bucker to La Lumiere and [player_tooltip player_id='1222357' first='Carter' last='Jackson'] to Garfield Heights this spring. Stud rising Junior [player_tooltip player_id='1432034' first='Damon' last='Friery'] has also been injured since the early spring, but there's still a lot of talent for Cam Joyce to work with.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Columbus Africentric</h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1222355' first='Cortez' last='Freeman'], 6'2 SG 2024</p>   <p>Freeman was a great addition to the Nubians who went back to the final four for a second straight season. They'll have some other young pieces ready to shine and make a name for themselves this winter.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Columbus Bishop Hartley</h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1469018' first='Jaden' last='Calloway'], 6'2 SG 2025</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1701047' first='Pharez' last='Nicholas'], 6'5 PF 2025</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1869632' first='Jakhi' last='Calloway'], 6'0 PG 2026</p>   <p>Hartley is led by the Calloway brothers who provide a dynamic back-court. Nicholas is an impressive athlete who provides size and explosiveness in the paint. Lots of young talent on this squad.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Columbus Walnut Ridge</h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1222376' first='Dominique' last='Aekins'], 5'9 PG 2024</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1223468' first='Lj' last='Foster'], 6'3 SG 2024</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1984820' first='Marquis' last='Lucas'], 6'2 PF 2026</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2139998' first='Deon' last='Johnson'], 6'3 CG 2027</p>   <p>Walnut Ridge has some of the top talent in the Columbus City league, Aekins is a must watch for low major and Division II programs this weekend. Foster is a high academic small college target. Lucas is a four-sport stud and a productive undersized forward on the hardwood. Johnson is one of the best incoming freshmen in the state.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Cuyahoga Valley Christian Acadmey</h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1432004' first='Darryn' last='Peterson'], 6'5 CG 2025</p>   <p>One of the top prospects in the country, Peterson is a blue blood level recruit who will draw the attention of the top programs in the country this weekend.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Dayton Chaminade Julienne</h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1955281' first='Cal' last='Weatherspoon'], 5'10 PG 2024</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1467912' first='Devin' last='Rakestraw'], 6'5 PF 2024</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1701134' first='David' last='Cartwright'], 6'2 SG 2025</p>   <p>While Cj loses one Washington brother to graduation and two to a move to Louisville, they still have enough talent for small college programs to keep an eye on in Weatherspoon and Rakestraw. Cartwright could be a breakout star in Dayton this season.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Dayton Dunbar</h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1883653' first='Baron' last='White'], 6'2 CG 2025</p>   <p>A transfer from Northridge, White is an athletic guard who should breakout at Dunbar this season.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Delaware Hayes</h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1222373' first='Jesse' last='Burris'], 6'4 SF 2024</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1675738' first='Jake' last='Lowman'], 6'4 PF 2024</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1675747' first='Carter' last='Piatt-Brown'], 6'3 SF 2025</p>   <p>Delaware Hayes projects as one of the top teams in central Ohio this season, Burris has a handful of mid major offers and high major interest while the rest of their team are small college shooters. Nice, experienced core group that shares the ball well.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Elyria</h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1491457' first='Jayden' last='Crutcher'], 6'5 SG 2025</p>   <p>Crutcher is one of the top shooters in Ohio's 2025 class and should have low to mid major interest, a prospect who could get his first offer with an impressive weekend.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Franklin Bishop Fenwick</h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1484682' first='Bailey' last='Temming'], 6'9 C 2024</p>   <p>Temming is one of the tallest prospects at the event and should be receiving scholarship interest from Division II, NAIA and JUCO programs. Starting to improve his production, lots of upside with Temming's size and skill.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Gahanna Lincoln</h2>   <p>Kj Reynald, 5'11 PG 2024</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1503899' first='Jonathan' last='Whiteside'], 6'6 C 2024</p>   <p>Gahanna graduated some pieces from last year but have a team that shares the ball, competes defensively and has a pair of returning starters who are small college targets heading into their senior year.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Garfield Heights</h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1421143' first='Deandre' last='Jones'], 6'8 PF 2024</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1222346' first='Calvin' last='Little'], 6'2 PG 2024</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1222357' first='Carter' last='Jackson'], 6'3 SG 2024</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1705948' first='Marcus' last='Johnson'], 6'2 PG 2026</p>   <p>Braylen Langley, 6'7 PF 2026</p>   <p>One of the most talented teams in Ohio, Garfield Heights has a former Saint Ignatius duo in their backcourt with Little and Jackson. Both players receiving low major interest right now. [player_tooltip player_id='1421143' first='Deandre' last='Jones'] has almost a dozen Division I offers from low to mid major programs. Johnson is a high major guard recruit who has a handful of high major offers heading into his Sophomore season. Langley moves to Garfield from Indiana and is teammates with Johnson on the grassroots circuit.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Grove City</h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1519638' first='Kraig' last='Gilbert'], 6'7 C 2024</p>   <p>Gilbert was a fast riser early this spring and should be taken close looks at by high academic scholarship programs. Athletic with improving perimeter shooting ability, Gilbert has a lot of upside with his physical tools plus production.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Hamilton</h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1489747' first='Andrea' last='Holden'], 6'5 C 2024</p>   <p>One of the most athletic players in the state, Holden plays with a lot of aggressiveness and passion in the paint. Another scholarship level big man, Holden is a force on the interior.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Hilliard Bradley</h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1222352' first='Cade' last='Norris'], 6'3 PG 2024</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1225069' first='Jeb' last='Bischoff'], 6'0 SG 2024</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1738516' first='Ian' last='Abrass'], 6'3 SF 2024</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2029026' first='Garrett' last='Sever'], 6'2 SG 2025</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2140168' first='Ben' last='Mirgon'], 6'1 PG 2027</p>   <p>Bradley project as one of the top teams in central Ohio this winter. With Norris back for his fourth year as a varsity starter, he's one of the most productive guys in the state and has low to mid major offers. Bischoff, Abrass and Sever are all small college shooting specialists. Mirgon has impressed playing up 15 U with [program_tooltip program_id='2076317' first='Midwest' last='Basketball Club 3SSB'] this spring.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Huber Heights Wayne</h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1285297' first='Juan' last='Cranford Jr'], 6'3 SG 2024</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1617825' first='Boots' last='Perkins'], 5'11 PG 2025</p>   <p>Wayne has this impressive duo of guards, Cranford has multiple scholarship offers for both football and basketball at the Division II/NAIA level while Perkins has been a steady riser this spring.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Kettering Archbishop Alter</h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1432016' first='Rj' last='Greer'], 6'4 SG 2025</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1432055' first='Charlie' last='Uhl'], 6'7 C 2025</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1497738' first='Matt' last='Lunne'], 6'6 C 2025</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2028558' first='Brady' last='Conner'], 6'5 SF 2025</p>   <p>Greer is one of the top prospects in the state and recently back from injury. He joins Alter's loaded 2025 group with Uhl, Lunne and Conner.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Lakewood Saint Edward</h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1383253' first='Wendell' last='Henry'], 6'5 PF 2024</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1494485' first='Max' last='McClellan'], 6'5 PF 2024</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1421136' first='Brian' last='Sullivan Jr'], 6'0 CG 2024</p>   <p>Saint Edward is always one of the top teams in the state and last year had a couple new names make a name for themselves at this event. McClellan stands on with the baseball team while Sullivan Jr also stands out with the football program for the Eagles.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Lakota East</h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1421142' first='Derek' last='Jackson'], 6'6 PF 2024</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2023894' first='Ty' last='Smyers'], 6'5 PF 2024</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1285295' first='Trey' last='Perry'], 6'0 PG 2025</p>   <p>Jackson will likely play football at the next level but has been a varsity contributor for a couple years now. Smyers impressed me at the KABC Titans Shootout as a small college target. Perry was just offered by Bellarmine this week and has a lot of low to mid major interest.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Lakota West</h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1475108' first='Davon' last='Drane'], 5'11 PG 2024</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1475107' first='Bryson' last='Curry'], 5'11 PG 2024</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2194977' first='Lincoln' last='Cosby'], 6'7 PF 2027</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2140178' first='Bryce' last='Curry'], 6'2 PG 2027</p>   <p>Lakota West has one of the top 2027 duos in the country with Cosby and Curry while Drane and older Curry are quick guards that are small college targets.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Lebanon</h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1670105' first='Anthony' last='Thompson'], 6'5 SG 2026</p>   <p>Thompson is one of the elite 3-and-D prospects in the state and should have mid to high major offers when it's all said and done, a must watch prospect at this event.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Lexington</h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1494486' first='Elijah' last='Hudson'], 6'8 PF 2024</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1705955' first='Brayden' last='Fogle'], 6'5 SF 2026</p>   <p>Hudson is one of the more intriguing 2024 prospects in the state with his combination of size and athleticism. A guy who can make shots from the outside and dunk on a defender. Fogle is one of the top athletes in the 2026 class with his combination of strength, touch and aggressiveness. Fogle is a mid to high major target for college programs to get early eyes on this weekend.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Lima Sr</h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1475110' first='Jekel' last='Cotton'], 6'5 SF 2025</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1432045' first='Jagger' last='Hutchins'], 6'5 PF 2025</p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2140877' first='Shawn' last='Foster'] Jr, 6'0 PG 2027</p>   <p>Led by their 2025 wing forward duo, Cotton has a couple mid major offers and Hutchins was offered by Bowling Green almost a year ago. Midwest Live is the only June Live Period event hosted in Ohio this summer. With over 100 teams coming to the Cedar Point Sports Center from Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky and West Virginia, there will be college coaches at every level scouting and looking for players.
