After taking a college visit last weekend, Moore was back in action this Saturday and continued his usual dominance in the paint. Just too big, skilled and aggressive for most of the competition in the paint, when Moore caught the ball on the block it was turning into two points. That continued aggressiveness with his back to the basket is going to be key as a senior for Moore, just imposing his will against undersized high school forwards. Moore showed patience in the post and took his time getting to his moves that he’s clearly been working on. One of the top bigs in Ohio’s 2024 class, Moore is seeing a lot of interest from low major and top Division II programs.

The biggest Ohio stock-riser from the event, Moore had multiple dominant games with his ability to efficiently score in the paint. Able to stretch out slower bigs and attack off the bounce while also using his size and comfort around the hoop to score at the rim. The pick and roll was another area where Moore found a lot of success, with the guards on his team able to draw switches or hedges off the bounce, Moore reaped the rewards with roll finishes to the hoop.

Moore has done a great job expanding his game as he ages, becoming more fluid in the open court and confident putting the ball on the deck and attacking. His best skill actually is probably his passing which is shown whenever he gets double teamed in the post. For Moore to use this skill the best at the next level, he needs to have the ability to score with his back to the basket. At the high school level most defenders need the help, but with players his own size, Moore will have to expand his post-game to force teams to help onto him and allow him to find open players to knock down shots. Another expansion of his game has been his jumper and he knocked down a couple mid-range shots that looked confident, while he went 0/2 from the 3-point line his confidence from behind the arc continues to improve.

Moore has really improved his body and overall skill with the ball in his hands recently, making me more confident in his potential to play on the perimeter next to another post oriented big man. Moore has flashed some ball-handling moves with the occasional euro-step and his jumper looks like it has the chance to become a real weapon in the future. I also love how Moore’s continued to hit the weight room and looks even stronger in his shoulders. Moore will continue to develop his perimeter skills while not forgetting how to score in the post this winter for Marysville as he gears up for the crucial 17 U spring and summer.

Moore was dominant in both games, scoring on the interior whenever he caught the ball inside of five feet. Moore has a great body and mobility to defend guards when he gets switched onto the perimeter. The most impressive play Moore made was when he had the ball with his back to the basket, made a pump-fake into a pivot and finished with the left hand. That’s a type of play that will translate to the next level. Expect Moore to take a big step as a Junior for a Marysville squad with some interesting returning talent.
