have pushed Toledo Emmanuel Christian to the top of Division III this season. An athletic guard who has a knack for scoring, Brown can get buckets in transition or in the half-court. With a bunch of interest from NAIA, Division III and JUCO programs, Brown has a variety of schools and levels to pick from. If Brown finds the right system fit regardless of level, he could be a solid long-term piece for a regional small college program.

Emmanuel Christian is off to a fast start this season and the play of Brown is a big reason why. Elevating into a primary scoring role, Brown has already had some huge scoring games including multiple 30+ point nights. An athletic guard who can also really shoot it from the outside, Brown has a lot of small college interest from a variety of levels including NAIA and Division III powerhouses. Brown continues to level up each time I watch him play, a top guard in NW Ohio.

Brown showed some really good feel for the game and basketball IQ. He ran the show for Emmanuel on Tuesday night and knew where the ball needed to go and when. He showed an impressive ability to operate the pick-n-roll as the ball handler. He knows when to attack and when to dish it. Brown is very good in transition as well. He has a burner on him as well. The kid has some next-level range off the dribble or catch-n-shoot.

Brown is a next-level hooper because of his skill and athletic ability. He is an explosive and quick athlete. This allows him to be a defensive lockdown defender. His motor on both ends of the floor is high but is on full display on defense. Brown can apply great pressure and is long so if you are weak with the ball then he will cause a turnover. He also has a clip. He elevates very high on his jumper and has a quick release and it is efficient. I like Brown’s game a lot and with Emmanuel Christian being his team this year, I am excited to see how he does in that role.

A high-flying guard prospect, Brown has a chance to put up huge numbers for Emmanuel Christian this winter after they lost a couple talented players to transfer out, most notably Jerry Easter II. With more shots available, Brown could put up big time scoring numbers as Emmanuel Christian tries to defend their TAAC championship. Many small college programs have already offered Brown with offers from Edison State, Ohio Northern, Gordon, Mount Aloysius, Cornell College, Defiance and Albion this month.

This was the second year in a row Jalen Brown went OFF at the Toledo Top 64. He was knocking down a lot of threes with his high elevation and quick-release shot. He seemed to be getting to the rim a lot more often than I remember which was effective. He was making the correct passes and plays. He was very simple and efficient with his touches as well. He didn’t over-dribble at all. Got to his spots and was getting buckets. He played with such high energy and defensive pressure. He is a kid who can do it all.

Brown was on the rumor mill a lot about where he was going for his senior year, so he decided to finish what he started and stay at Emmanuel Christian. Brown is a freaky fast twitch athlete. This kid just explodes all around the court. He is ultra-quick and fast, changes speed well and is super bouncy. His defense is phenomenal. He can apply all the pressure in the world and get into your shorts. He has good length as well which helps him poke the ball loose. Brown turned a lot of heads last year at this event with his shooting. This kid can knock it down from wherever. He has a high-elevated jump shot. It’s a quick shot that is hard to time so it’s difficult to contest.

Brown is a springy-quick player. He moves sort of wirey and it’s tough to stay infant of him. He got to the rim whenever he wanted to this weekend. He operated best in transition with a full head of steam but he has the ability to be explosive in small spaces. Finished really well with either hand. He knocked down threes for
Hopson Elite
as well even though he is a slash-first player. He showed an ability to play point for Hopson and was great at it. He excelled as a playmaker. He got the offense moving and kicked it to open shooters and dished it to teammates when he attracted multiple defenders on a drive. Brown plays with such high energy.

Hopson Elite Vs R4L was a nice Ohio Vs Ohio battle taking place this weekend and a great opportunity to see two of the best Ohio teams the Prep Hoops Circuit has to offer. It was Brown dominating for Hopson Elite as they got the victory in a highly competitive contest. Brown was knocking down jumpers in a variety of ways, getting kick-outs, spot-ups, pull-ups and step-backs in a big-time perimeter shooting display. Defensively, Brown had a smart back tap steal where he leaked out and was fouled in transition. His toughest bucket of the game came when he drove to the paint, spun, and finished off two feet. Impressive game by Brown and Hopson Elite showed good resiliency to fight back from a deficit throughout most of the game.
