Emmanuel Christian is off to a fast start this season and the play of Brown is a big reason why. Elevating into a primary scoring role, Brown has already had some huge scoring games including multiple 30+ point nights. An athletic guard who can also really shoot it from the outside, Brown has a lot of small college interest from a variety of levels including NAIA and Division III powerhouses. Brown continues to level up each time I watch him play, a top guard in NW Ohio.
Highlights
A conference rival of Brown’s at Maumee Valley Country Day, Majors and Brown have some exciting matchups against each other in the near future. Majors had a big time showing at the Toledo Top 64 and has carried that momentum to the high school season. Leading his team to a 7-0 start thanks to a game winning bucket with 2.4 seconds left to break a 52-52 tie with Franklin Monroe, Majors is showing his ability to impact winning games. Able to play on or off the ball from the guard spot, small college programs should be taking a look at Majors.
Another team off to a strong start, Suleiman has North Royalton at 7-1 and playing in a championship game down in a tournament in Florida. Suleiman has had some big scoring games this season and has been a standout at our Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo. Another senior guard who recently went over 1,000 career points, Suleiman should be at the top of a lot of small college recruiting boards from the combo guard position.
Maybe the clutchest shot in Ohio all season has been made by Ellis when down three against Reynoldsburg he knocked down a 3-pointer and the foul to steal a neutral court win against another Division I state title threat. Ellis can really shoot it from the outside and is playing his role well on one of the top teams in the state. The transition to college should be easier for Ellis as his current role mirrors what college programs will ask him to do at the next level. Saint Ignatius has a lot of small college talent in addition to their Division I prospects on the team.
