On Tuesday I watched a very back-and-forth game between two highly talented teams but Emmanuel Schirtian walked away with the win 62-59 against Scott. Then on Friday night, I watched a very well-coached and young St. John’s Jesuit team get their 5th win of the season against Rogers, 65-51. This article will talk about the Top Guards.
Brown showed some really good feel for the game and basketball IQ. He ran the show for Emmanuel on Tuesday night and knew where the ball needed to go and when. He showed an impressive ability to operate the pick-n-roll as the ball handler. He knows when to attack and when to dish it. Brown is very good in transition as well. He has a burner on him as well. The kid has some next-level range off the dribble or catch-n-shoot.
Highlights
Isaiah Beauchamp
Isaiah Beauchamp
Beauchamp is someone that really impressed me Tuesday night. He has the nickname “Iso” for his 1 on 1 ability but that was not showcased in his game at all. He played within himself and was like a true point guard. He took shots when he was open, and knocked them down. Got good second-chance points and some very difficult finishes when he elevated high in the air. He made good extra passes and initiated the motion of the offense well. He was efficient and consistent.
James is a freshman who gets a lot of minutes off the bench for the Titans. I have heard a lot of good things about this freshman and after seeing him play for myself, you can tell he will be a very good player. He has a good skillset already. His ability to finish is very impressive for his height. He plays very hard and applies good on-ball pressure. He caused some turnovers. This kid has a lot of potential.
Demetrick Patterson
Demetrick Patterson
Patterson was really the only Rogers player last night that had a lot going for him. He scored the first 7 points for the Rams and was a tough player to stop the rest of the night. He is a very strong guard who has physical takes. He is a right-hand dominant player. He was knocking down shots as well. Proving to be a mismatch for most guards because of his strength and athleticism.
