We’ve already done a part 1 of shooting guards and a top point and combo guards article as well! Lots of available talent in Ohio’s 2024 class.
A small-town NW Ohio product, Brenner had a strong summer with the Ohio Buckets and has continued to impact winning with Archbold. Few players have the production, shooting ability and defensive upside that Brenner has among available seniors in Ohio. Kentucky Christian is his only posted offer, this is a player who should have much more Division II and NAIA interest. If Brenner can lead Archbold to a deep playoff run, he could get some new interests.
One of the few players in Ohio with scholarship offers on both the gridiron and hardwood, Cranford Jr is a unique prospect to watch. His bigger frame allows him to be physical at the point of attack and his smooth release makes him a tough cover. Named the GWOC player of the year, Cranford Jr has shown the ability to produce in one of the toughest leagues in Ohio. A name to know for both regional basketball and football programs, Cranford Jr could be an impact player at the next level in either sport!

Africentric had an up and down season this year but hit a surge in January with some signature victories against a tough non-conference schedule. Freeman was the driving force behind this surge with his ability to score the basketball. Capable of getting hot from the perimeter and a lightning-fast player in transition, Freeman had to take on primary scoring responsibilities after Dailyn Swain graduated. I also like what Freeman brings from the point of attack defensively with his length and ability to pressure the ball. Wilberforce offered Freeman earlier this month and that would make sense as a potential fit for the Columbus City League Star.
A Prep Hoops Circuit standout, Brown and Nate Miles Nate Miles 6’5″ | SF Toledo Emmanuel Christian | 2026 State OH have pushed Toledo Emmanuel Christian to the top of Division III this season. An athletic guard who has a knack for scoring, Brown can get buckets in transition or in the half-court. With a bunch of interest from NAIA, Division III and JUCO programs, Brown has a variety of schools and levels to pick from. If Brown finds the right system fit regardless of level, he could be a solid long-term piece for a regional small college program.

One of the elite shooters in Ohio, few players can get hot from the outside like Mallernee. I watched him score 53 points against my alma mater this season and that was one of the best scoring performances I can remember seeing. Mallernee was named Licking County player of the year for a second straight season and should be Division II, III and NAIA radars across the region. We’ll make one final rankings update in the 2024 class after the state tournament and Mallernee will be one of the bigger risers in the final update.
Malvern is the lone remaining unbeaten squad in the state and Barrino is their star player. Few players can match his athleticism, driving ability and power at the Division III level. Few players in his conference or region can stay in front of Barrino when he attacks off the bounce. An excellent defender who forces a ton of turnovers, Barrino usually translates those turnovers into easy transition buckets. Barrino will be one of the highest ranked debuts when we make our final 2024 rankings update after the state tournament. Glad we finally got to watch him and his Malvern squad in person in January.
