One of the top small-town athletes in Ohio, Barrino was the driving force behind the lone unbeaten in the entire state at Malvern. An elite defender who caused a ton of turnovers, Barrino gave offensive players problems with his ball pressure and ability to jump passing lanes. Best offensively in the open court, Barrino turned defense into offense numerous times each game to get easy looks on the fast break. A tier above his conference’s competition as an athlete, Barrino was able to get into the lane whenever he wanted off the dribble. Going up to the college level, it’ll be interesting to track Barrino’s ability to get place off the bounce when the athletic gap shrinks. Developing a jump-shot would take his game to another level and gives him more upside than anybody else mentioned in this article.

Malvern is the lone remaining unbeaten squad in the state and Barrino is their star player. Few players can match his athleticism, driving ability and power at the Division III level. Few players in his conference or region can stay in front of Barrino when he attacks off the bounce. An excellent defender who forces a ton of turnovers, Barrino usually translates those turnovers into easy transition buckets. Barrino will be one of the highest ranked debuts when we make our final 2024 rankings update after the state tournament. Glad we finally got to watch him and his Malvern squad in person in January.

One of the top seniors in the state I’d never seen in person prior to Sunday night, Barrino didn’t disappoint with his production and athletic tools that translated from the highlights I watched. Playing for an unbeaten Malvern squad, Barrino and Mitchell Minor Mitchell Minor 6'5" | PF Malvern | 2024 State OH are one of the top small-town duos in the state. Barrino is a strong off guard who is a monster defensively with his active hands and good instincts. Not much of a perimeter threat to shoot it at the moment, Barrino had one early mid-range pull-up that looked solid. For Barrino to reach his upside at the next level, the shot has to be a little more of a threat than it is right now. I expect scholarship programs who are willing to work to develop the jumper to have success with Barrino because he would fit in immediately at the Division II or NAIA level from a defensive and physicality perspective.
