About Kruz
Expert Analysis
Tom Keller | Prep Hoops Scout
McClure’s versatility and instincts were shown often in his play. He did a good job on the attack and was able to either get a bucket or find someone to score. He made a mark from behind the arc with four threes. McClure had a few trips to the foul line. McClure had a game high 24 points. McClure does a really good job of letting the game come to him and never gets too high or too low.

Underrated on a national level and with recruiting thus far, McClure might’ve changed his fortunes with a big performance in front of 40+ Division I coaches. A priority for Mid Major schools across the country, McClure played well enough to potentially add to his high major offer sheet that currently only includes DePaul. A wing guard who can shoot, defend and pass, McClure checks a ton of boxes I look for in a prospect. Combine that with consistent production against top area high school teams and on the 3SSB circuit, it’s time McClure gets shown more love from college programs and national rankings websites.

One of the top players in Ohio’s 2025 class, McClure has seen his recruitment spike with DePaul and conference rival of Dayton’s, Duquense offering the wing guard in the past 2 weeks. McClure is one of the top 3 and D prospects in Ohio with range that stretches beyond the college 3-point line and excellent length and foot speed to stay with guards and wings on the perimeter. Where McClure really shined on Saturday was with his passing ability, beating the double team every time it came. With the height to see over the defense, McClure was unphased by the traps and hit his teammates on time. Fellow wing guard

had a big day shooting the ball from the outside and a majority of his looks were assisted by McClure. With McClure running the show, Westerville South will have a punchers chance against anybody in the central region.

One of the bigger sleepers in Ohio’s 2025 class nationally, McClure has taken a huge jump this season and leads all OCC players in scoring at 25 PPG. McClure also became the first Junior to eclipse 1,000 points in his career at Westerville South. This was the first time I caught McClure in action this winter and he showed out by outscoring the opponents entire team. One of the top shooters in the state, McClure is money when he gets his feet set. Improving his explosiveness as an athlete, McClure had a nasty two-foot slam dunk with a defender underneath the basket. Always been a tough defender, McClure forced turnovers with his anticipation and length on that end of the court. A prospect I expect to start to see high major attention this spring and summer, he’s already become a priority for MAC programs.

McClure has broken out as one of the top scorers in Ohio this season and continues to improve each time we watch him play. After dominating with Ohio United, McClure is set to play with Indiana Elite on the 3SSB circuit this spring and summer. With Indiana Elite, high major coaches will be watching McClure and his teammates and I think it won’t be long till his recruitment spikes from the current mid major offers he holds to a higher level of program looking to secure McClure’s commitment.

McClure was my MVP of the game on Tuesday versus Dublin Coffman because he took the game over and won it. He had only 5 points at halftime and had no real rhythm in the game. In the second half, he started to get his teammates going with some next-level passing. Making the defense gives him less of their focus and once that happens he took advantage. He got a lot of points off of turnovers and around the rim. He got his points around the rim and in transition to see the ball go in the rim. Once that happened he got his rhythm then he took the game over. He was making and-1 threes and breaking ankles. Impressive performance.

McClure had a great summer on the Prep Hoops Circuit, leading his Ohio United 16 U squad to the Grit Region Championship just a week after winning the Adidas Gold East championship as well. Maturing physically and coming into himself as an athlete, McClure has taken a big jump this summer. Already an excellent 3-and-D guard, McClure has become more explosive and improved as a passer off the bounce. So far Siena and Miami (OH) are his only offers, but I expect that list to grow sooner rather than later. Expect a huge Junior season for McClure at one of the dominant programs in central Ohio.
