Shane Garcia | Prep Hoops Scout
Hutchins is at a new school this year but he is one of the most consistent players in the area so you know what you are going to get out of him no matter where he is at. Listed at 6’7 he is a great modern-day forward because he can shoot the lights out. He is a perfect pick-and-pop guy who has shown a better ability to drive off the dribble. He has great footwork and moves with his back to the basket. He is becoming a tough player who is opening up his scoring game by being physical and getting buckets that way.

Hutchins was very impressive for Lima Senior last night. He played a different game than most people are used to seeing. Everyone knows the kid is a good shooter but he did most of his damage in the paint. He played like a true forward with a lot of back-to-the-basket points. He had a really good touch around the rim. He made a ton of shots through traffic and with people around him. He was doing this against more athletic players, he killed them with footwork. It was very impressive to watch this part of Hutchins’s game be displayed. He finished with 15 points.

Hutchins was unconscious from beyond the arc on Saturday. He was knocking down shots at a high clip for Lima. This role for him is essential for the success of the Spartans this season. He will stretch the floor for Lima and create space and lanes for everyone else on the team. Something that impressed me with Hutchins was his ability to shoot the ball with no shooting pocket. This allows him to get the ball in the air quicker and seems more efficient. I expect a big year from Hutchins.

Hutchins is a talented stretch wing forward who shoots a very smooth ball out his hands. While he made shots on Sunday, I was more impressed with his ability to score with his back to the basket and his improved ball handling. His ability to space the floor helps stretch the defense but combining that with the ability to punish a smaller defender in the paint gives him the outside/inside scoring versatility that will make him tough to stop this winter.

Hutchins is going to bring the ability to stretch the floor for this Red Team. He is a certified sharpshooter. He is someone you can not leave him open. He is someone who is aggressive when seeking his shot but knows how to get it. He has a high IQ that always allows him to get open. He plays the game the right way. Hutchins is a very big kid as well. He is listed at 6’6 and has a strong build and body. He is affective with using it as well. Does a great job of using his length the stay in front of quicker guards and uses his size to bang with bigger players in the post.
