Expert Analysis

Bruskotter has taken his game to another level these playoffs and a 34-point performance on 13/16 from the field was incredible to watch. Flat out leaving it all on the court, Bruskotter made shot after shot from the outside and was efficient on drives where he used his size and strength. One of the best players to come through Shelby in school history, Bruskotter’s playoff run will be remembered by the Whippet faithful for a long time. Committed to Wright State, I expect Bruskotter to push to see the floor early in his college career.

Another Division II powerhouse got a signature win as Shelby held off a furious Findlay rally late. Bruskotter made some big shots in this one, helping the Whippets gain a signature win heading into the playoffs. I thought Bruskotter used his length to get some big boy rebounds that got extra possessions for his team. His buzzer-beating 3-pointer in the first quarter was a display of Bruskotter’s perimeter shooting and natural touch. Shelby has been one of the top small-town programs in Ohio the past five seasons and this could be the year they get over the hump and make the final four.

The most consistently productive player for
Ohio Buckets
this weekend, Bruskotter showed exactly why some Division I programs have already offered the 6’7 stretch forward. Almost having the highlight of the weekend, Bruskotter came close to throwing down an and-1 poster dunk that just grazed off the rim. As a screener, Bruskotter has developed great chemistry with

as Bruskotter is dangerous as both a pop and roll man. In the final minute of a tight game I caught, Bruskotter had a tough finish in traffic to help give the Buckets some breathing room late.

A talented shooter at 6’7, 6’8, Bruskotter has a unique skillset for a prospect his size. With his high school team Bruskotter essentially runs point guard where he creates offense for himself and gets to handle the basketball and make plays for others. With the Ohio Buckets, Bruskotter plays a complimentary role where he spaces the floor and rebounds. At the college level he will play a more similar role to this, holding an offer from Toledo, which has done an excellent job with forwards that can space the floor.

One of the more interesting prospects in the 2024 class to evaluate, Bruskotter has a unique game. While I project Bruskotter as a stretch-4 at the college level for low to mid major programs, he literally runs point guard for his high school team. This gives me an opportunity to see what he can and can’t do with the basketball against less athletic defenders. At the start of the game, Bruskotter was amazing, knocking down tough off the dribble jumpers and finding open teammates when the help came on him. As the game went on Bruskotter struggled a little when forcing contested shots, but still had a huge impact on the game and his team winning a key conference battle. Seeing players in a variety of settings is crucial as an evaluator and Bruskotter plays very different roles with his high school and grassroots teams.
