One of two committed players who rode a strong summer surge into making a commitment at the next level. Jackson had a really solid showing at Midwest Live where his defensive ability and transition scoring talents made him a very impactful wing guard prospect. Canisius already has an Ohio guard on their roster in former Sandusky standout Tahj Staveskie. Jackson will provide toughness and the ability to guard the ball at the next level. With his move to Garfield Heights, the Bulldogs should once again have one of the toughest defenses in the state.

Maybe the standout individual performer of the day, Jackson was terrific in Garfield Heights blowout win over Detroit MLK. With great efficiency scoring the ball in a variety of ways, Jackson was attacking closeouts with dibble moves, hitting open spot-up 3-pointers and leaking out in transition for easy layups. On the defensive end, Jackson plays tough on ball defense and took a charge as well. Really impressed with Garfield Heights as a team, DeVaughn Jackson DeVaughn Jackson 6'1" | SG Garfield Heights | 2025 State OH is a sleeper who might be playing behind some talented seniors but will be a prime breakout candidate on a senior and a guy who would start for the overwhelming majority of schools in northeast Ohio. Garfield Heights also brought in an out of state transfer who will make a big splash in our 2026 rankings when he makes his debut.

Jackson started the spring with PK Flash but has been a steady performer for OBC since joining the squad a few weeks ago. With his length and defensive activity, Jackson is an impact defender and can score in transition. His impact on his new squad makes him a gamechanger this weekend.

Jackson was locking down every for OBC on Saturday. He did this due to his athleticism and build. He got great footwork and balance along with speed and sneaky strength. He also has some really long arms that allow him to be more aggressive defensively. He had great closeouts. He has a nice basketball IQ and anticipation defensively. He was getting blocks from the help side, got a ton of loose balls, and on-ball steals. His hands were active all game. He is a nice playmaker on the offensive end too. Anytime he was attacking the basketball good things happen for OBC.

Jackson had potentially the best game I’ve seen him play against Huntington Prep in a DOMINANT victory for Saint Ignatius over the prep powerhouse. Ending the game 7/8 from the floor, almost everything Jackson threw up went in the hoop. Jackson had a couple layups but did most of his damage in the mid-range, shooting over defenders that gave him space to pull-up. Defensively, Jackson gave his usual great effort with a couple deflections, and he forced some turnovers with his on-ball pressure.

Jackson is a steady performer who just makes things happen on both ends of the court. One of the top defensive wing guards in the 2024 class, Jackson is able to make an impact on the game without the ball in his hands. Jackson was also consistent for Midwest Basketball Club’s 16 U 3SSB team as well that had some roster turnover from April to July.
