A sharpshooter who continues to make a two-way impact, Winters Jr does the two things college coaches look for the most with a wing guard which is make shots and defend. Productive as a help-side defender and stretching the floor, Winters Jr has exploded a few times this season. I think he has the tools to play right away at the Division I level.

Richmond Heights made just three shots inside the arc all game which meant they were launching away from 3-point range all game. Nobody caught fire quite like Winters Jr, who was the primary reason why this game was so competitive for two and a half quarters. One of the elite shooters in Ohio, Winters Jr hit some shots from 25+ feet off pick and pops and also launched one from behind half court at the first half buzzer which he banked in. A resilient performance by the undersized and undermanned Richmond Heights team, I was impressed with their team effort to stay competitive for as long as they did on Friday night.

Winters was a player that won the game for Richmond. He was doing it all for them on both ends of the floor. He was a leader on his team and a winner. He was guarding the center for Northland but playing guard on the other end knocking down threes. He is a skilled player who can knock down shots but is focused on doing the little things. He was in the right spot on the help side all game. Focused on defending the center for Northland even though he is a skinnier guard. He showed an immense amount of toughness. Winters made me a huge fan after his performance on Friday night.

Winters will grab headlines for his tremendous shooting ability on the perimeter and while he made shots from 3-point range on Friday evening, I thought his defense was actually his most valuable part of the game. Winters was in the right position as a help-side defender numerous times and also rotated quickly onto 3-point shooters and contesting layups at the rim. He helped hold Alter to 5-22 from 3-point range and 32% from the field overall. When Richmond Heights defends at a high level, they will be very tough to beat this season,

One of the elite shooters in Ohio, Winters made some big shots for a Richmond Heights team that cruised to a third consecutive state championship. The five 3-pointers he knocked down allowed Richmond Heights to have the space on the floor for guys like

to attack downhill off the dribble. Winters also helped out as a rebounder and when Richmond Heights forced 16 turnovers, he was usually down the court ready to knock down an open shot or get to the rim for a layup. The 2025 core that Richmond Heights has is a perfect 3/3 in state championships, they will look to win a fourth next March.

due to injury, Winters had to step up and handle the ball handling duties with the starting lineup. I thought Winters did a good job handling pressure and did what he always does, knock down deep 3-pointers. When Winters is pulling up in transition it’s such a tough shot to guard because the natural reaction of the defense is to protect the paint and then extend out to shooters. Winters can make the defense pay with a deep 3-pointer before they get set. Another aspect of his game that has continued to improve is his on ball defensive ability, his length gives opposing guards trouble attacking him.

One of the elite shooters in Ohio, Winters just recently picked up a pair of Division I offers from Arizona State and Akron. Steadily improving, Winters had some huge games for a Richmond Heights squad that went unbeaten and won the state championship. Playing for All Ohio Red’s 16 U team, Winters has continued to shoot the ball at a high level. Filling out physically and improving defensively are the next steps in his game to help him go from a shooting specialist to a 3-and-D wing. Based on Winters steady improvement, his work ethic has shown me that he’s going to continue to improve over the next year and a half.

An absolute sniper, Winters connected on 11 3-pointers this weekend, a team high. Pretty much only a 3-point weapon offensively, Winters attempted 25 of his 30 field goal attempts from behind the arc. Winters is an ELITE shooter and has the numbers to back that up. However, I want to see Winters find other ways to impact the game. His frame is very skinny and he’s going to need to put on some mass to play at the Division I level. Also a negative assist to turnover ratio is not something you want any guard to have, even if it was just 2/3. Defensively, Winters gives good effort and should improve with physical development. Due to his sharp shooting, Winters picked up his first Division I offer from Arizona State this weekend. I expect more schools to get involved by the time July comes around.
