Dawson was someone who came in the event with multiple D2 offers and I bet is going to get more. Dawson started the day kind of slow and was really feeling out how to play with his team. A couple of shots that usually go down didn’t. Then they started to go down and he started to cook. He was great from the midrange. He showed great patience and pivoted to create space for himself. He had great timing on his pull-ups to throw the defense off. He did most of his damage and got going from the midrange and then proceeded to knock down threes which opened the court up for him. He was super aggressive once he got it going and showed some competitive juices. This kid can score in bunches.

Dawson is one of the highest climbing guards after this summer. He led all scorers at the Midwest Live in June by averaging almost 30 points a game, got a ton of attention with the Ohio Buckets , and gained some offers from high-level D2 schools in the area, his most recent being Ashland. Dawson is a flat-out bucket getting. He is super simple and efficient with his game. He will never over-dribble, he simply gets to his spot and gets buckets. He is automatic from beyond the arc, especially with space. He is a very high IQ player because he always knows where to be and when. He has great off-ball movement. He is a sneaky strong kid as well because he plays through and with contact well. Dawson is someone you will want to watch.

One of the top scorers in Ohio, Dawson averaged 25 PPG as a Junior and earned all-Ohio second team honors after an amazing Junior season. Not going to blow you away with athleticism, Dawson relies on his body, size and pace to get by defenders and he doesn’t need much space to fire from deep and connect. Dawson’s top performance during the high school season might’ve came against rival Huron where he scored 34 points to lead his team to an SBC division championship. Look for scholarship programs to be all over this Ohio Buckets squad this spring and summer.

Dawson has good size for a guard and plays with good pace. An elite shooter, Dawson can get hot in a hurry from downtown. I was also impressed with Dawson’s passing ability and how he found open teammates after receiving a majority of the attention from opposing defenses. I think Dawson should be looked at by scholarship programs this spring and summer.

Dawson didn’t have his usual shot-making ability on Thursday but his talent and feel for the game are obvious when you watch him. Playing with excellent pace, Dawson isn’t sped up and makes the right pass to teammates all the time. With good touch around the basket, Dawson can finish with a variety of angles and shot types. A very limited athlete, Dawson needs to change pace and use fakes to create space to get open. Dawson is a 2024 prospect who will get plenty of looks from Division II and NAIA programs this spring and summer.
