Johnson can be special. He shows flashes of it that make you just shake your head in disbelief. He is an explosively smooth athlete. He just quickly floats around the court and shakes defenders down. He has a tight handle on the ball and he has an extensive bag of moves to go to. He attacks angles and openings really aggressively and well. He is a scoring-first guard who can absolutely put the ball in the rim from all levels. His go-to is getting to the rim. He has great acrobatic finishing ability. He has great guard size already as a freshman. I am excited to see him put all of these outstanding tools together consistently.

Johnson is special. He shows flashes of being a special player. He has some great athleticism with twitch-like quickness. He is long and uses it well with his dribbling moves. He can do and get wherever he wants on the offensive end. He is an elite playmaker, who makes some highlight-level passes. He did not have much of a scoring impact on the game but Johnson is a high-level kid with truly special potential.

The Columbus City League usually has some top talent and Johnson could be the next star from that league. A guard who plays with impressive pace and can set teammates up with his gravity and vision, he’ll be a key piece next to a talented cast of prospects on Walnut Ridge this winter. Johnson was another prospect who attended our Prep Hoops Freshman showcase in the fall and showed why he’s regarded as one of the top 2027 prospects in the state.
