Roddy played in a highly competitive and skilled game on Saturday. Going into the game you knew it would be a competitive game, and you know Roddy would show up. He is a player you have confidence and trust in. He handles the ball and sees the floor just as good as anyone. This year he has stepped into more of an aggressive and scorer role. He got to the rim well and did a great job of using his body. He puts a ton of pressure on the rim, and this creates good shots for him. He also went to the free-throw line a ton. He made some timely buckets and showed he is more than just a passing point guard.

One of the winningest point guards in recent Ohio history, Roddy has been the leader of the Harvest Prep program for a few seasons now. After a slow start, Harvest Prep got their first signature victory of the season with a two point win over Toledo St John’s. Roddy had some nice crossover moves to get past the primary defender off the dribble to get to the bucket and score. I was impressed with Roddy’s finishing ability with both hands in this game, using his left hand at the rim. In this game Roddy went over the 1,000 point mark for his career, an impressive achievement for a point guard who impacts the game in so many ways besides scoring the basketball.

I think this every time I watch Roddy play, not many point guards I’d take over him. As a pass-first point guard, he is as good as they come in my opinion. He sees the floor at all times and makes the right plays for his teammates. He never gets sped up and plays with a great pace. He has the ball on a string. He also has a good and solid build so he can absorb and dictate contact. When the defense helps too much he knows who to pass it to and then when they don’t help he scores it.

One of the toughest defensive guards in Ohio, Roddy has been a winner for a Harvest Prep program that has been a dominant small school powerhouse. A prospect who burst onto the scene as a freshman, Roddy has been a prospect we’ve seen grow and develop into a leader and all-around point guard. Expect to see Roddy and Harvest Prep again making a run to Dayton this season and he could generate some late interest with another long playoff push.

Roddy led a very good Harvest Prep team down to Dayton this year where they finished runner-ups for D2. He plays the point guard the correct way. He is the straw that stirs the drink for HP. He gets the offense started and gets them going. He plays with a great pace and rarely gets sped up unless he wants to. He always finds an open teammate and gets the ball out of his hands. He has the ball on a strong and can dribble by almost any defender. His addition of size is a big help for him. He dictates where he wants to go because he is bigger than many other point guards. I like the confidence he plays with. He is a good on-ball defender as well. Big fan of Roddy.

Roddy was sensational on Thursday night’s game against Africentric. He ran the show for the Warriors all game long. He has an incredibly tight handle on the ball and knows how to attack pressure and turn it into his advantage. He put on a passing clinic all game long. He consistently found the open man all game long, and it showed through on the game-winning bucket the Warriors had. He had a lot of flashy no-look passes that got the crowd into it. He always made the correct plays. He forced a 5-second call defensively. His coaches and teammates trusted him late. I can see why and there are not many point guards I’ve seen this year that I would trust more than him.

Roddy is one of the smartest players I have watched this year. He does the little things excellently. He is always in the right spot on defense. He makes the right play with the ball in his hands. He never forces or keeps the ball in his hands too long, which is a very underrated attribute for good point guards. Roddy is a great playmaker. He is a pass-first guard that controls the game. He plays with a great pace and control with the ball in his hands. He is a smooth athlete with good size. He is strong and this helps him do what he wants on the floor.
