The host Arcs were led by a great performance by their star senior Dammons who electrified an energetic home crowd. Dammons had a couple dunks and also attacked the rim efficiently with a few layups and runners past rim contests. Throw in a handful of time and space 3-pointers and Dammons was a level above the competition on Sunday and has strong scholarship interest.

Brush is off to a fast 3-0 start to their season with Dammons already winning MVP honors at the Great Lakes Classic. A wing forward with the ability to rebound, play above the rim and get out in transition, Dammons can do a variety of things to impact the game. A player who has delt with injuries throughout his career, this senior season could be a chance for Dammons to establish himself as one of the best players in northeast Ohio. Brush’s program has done an excellent job of developing their players to be scholarship level prospects and Dammons appears to be next in line.

TNBA -Ohio had a ton of small college prospects and their games were filled with Division II, III and NAIA coaches when I saw them play. Maybe their most talented long term piece was Dammons who got some buzz as a rising freshman and then battled injuries to make an impact at the varsity level. After finding his footing as a Junior, Dammons continued that momentum on the grassroots scene with his size, change of pace and faceup ability was unique for a wing forward. Dammons would be comfortable playing the three or the four at the college level depending on the fit and could have a big senior season for a Brush program that’s sent a ton of players to the college level under Chet Mason.

I caught two games of TNBA -Ohio this weekend and I’ll have notes on another one of their prospects in an article coming tomorrow. Dammons is the best athlete on the team with his ability to get downhill and play above the rim. Dammons had one of the best dunks I saw all weekend with a drive and slam with a defender underneath the rim during the sequence. With his size and activity in the paint, Dammons scored mostly in the paint on either putbacks or drives to the rim. While he made some shots from the perimeter, I wish Dammons shot it a little more consistently from the outside. TNBA drew a handful of scholarship level coaches to their games and Dammons is one of the highest upside prospects on their team.

The lone competitive game of the day, Brush got a gritty victory over a much-improved Warrensville Heights squad. I thought Dammons was impressive, especially in transition where he can use his explosive athleticism. A couple breakaway dunks and layups on the fast break, when Dammons gets a head of steam he is tough to stop at the rim. The shot of the game was also made by Dammons with a DEEP 3-pointer at the third quarter buzzer to put Brush up by 2, they would never give that lead up in the final frame. Expect scholarship programs to start really inquiring about Dammons starting this spring when the grassroots season gets underway.

A prospect who was hurt for his entire freshman season and just started to hit his stride at the end of his sophomore season at Brush is a prime breakout candidate this winter. After watching the highlights posted by TNBA in July, it seems that Dammons has fully recovered with his explosiveness and athleticism fully back. His ability to explode at the rim and attack off the bounce will be a perfect fit with Chet Mason, who has done a great job developing guys within his program. Also, a good shooter from the outside with his feet set, Dammons can score the ball in a variety of ways. If Dammons can turn his flashes into consistent production, expect to continue to see his name rise up our rankings over the next year and a half.

Probably the most athletic player featured in this article, Dammons can jump out the gym and make a big impact in transition. Best when the game is going up and down, Brush will look to play a fast tempo this upcoming season. As an offensive player, Dammons is aggressive slashing to the rim and wants to get downhill. He made some impressive passes in the two games I caught but when he learns to slow down and let the game come to him, his ceiling will be unlocked. Many Brush players have made great strides under Chet Mason and Dammons could be the next prospect to take the next step under the former pro.
