Saint Ignatius is looking to win the ultimate prize and their size is a big factor in that belief that they can win it all. The senior duo of

and Robinson have been great defensively this season in the half-court. I thought from the summer to now, Robinson is more engaged on the defensive end, better at protecting the rim and overall more confident with the ball in his hands. Committed to play for his pops at Cleveland State, Robinson will have the opportunity to compete for minutes for a team that’s competitive yearly in the Horizon League.

The jump Robinson has made defensively from last year to this year is very notable and a big reason why Saint Ignatius could contend for a state title this season. With their starting lineup featuring Robinson, 6’7

, the Wildcats have size that few teams in the state can match. Robinson had at least three or four blocks on Sunday and scored second chance points to give the offense a boost. On a team with so many talented scorers, getting the whole team to buy in on doing the little things to win can put you over the top and Robinson’s senior leadership is paying dividends early in the year.

Another forward for All Ohio who’s been a consistent scoring option in the paint all season. Robinson had a couple buckets on rolls to the rim and offensive rebound putbacks. Biggest area of improvement for Robinson is going to be limiting his fouls, with 12 in 63 minutes, that’s one foul every five minutes he’s on the court. Being in the right positions earlier will allow him to lower this number and be available to stay on the floor for longer stretches. Despite the lower minutes numbers, Robinson is second on the team with 24 rebounds and has done that every time he’s stepped on the floor this week.

Robinson was a pleasant surprise for me this weekend, figuring out ways to produce and help his team win games. Finishing 8/13 from the field with 13 rebounds in 49 minutes, Robinson was active on both ends of the court. A guy who mostly sets screens and looks to crash the offensive glass, Robinson found himself in the right position often enough to find some easy buckets. Defensively he really worked to move his feet on the perimeter and even though he got blown by a few times off the bounce by more athletic forwards, it wasn’t due to a lack of effort. I also thought Robinson was an active help-side defender, taking charges and being where he needed to be to help his guards if they got beat off the dribble.

Another prospect who came to Ohio because his dad got a college coaching job is Reese Robinson, who’s Dad is the new head coach of the Cleveland State Vikings. Robinson joins a stacked Saint Ignatius squad with an abundance of talent at each position. Robinson impressed me the most with KC Run GMC with his ability to play around the basket and finish dump off passes and be smart with the basketball. Robinson doesn’t need a high usage to have an impact on the game at both ends and will be a valuable addition to Saint Ignatius this winter.
