Unfortunately, Springer suffered an injury late in his senior season which prevented him from playing in the Wildcats state title run. However, Springer continued to get better and better throughout his senior season prior to the injury, that he still made a climb up the final rankings. A forward who can space the floor, rebound it, is a solid athlete and can defend in space checks a lot of boxes at the next level. Hoping for a full recovery for Sam as he prepares for his colegiate career to start.

Already with Division I offers, Springer is taking a visit to Air Force this weekend and has an offer from Navy as well. Saint Ignatius has as much talent as anybody this season in the state of Ohio and the Wildcats will play in a bunch of big games. Even more chances for Springer to become a household name in northeast Ohio as a senior.

One of the biggest stock risers this summer, Springer took another step in his game and was rewarded with offers from Navy and Air Force. A contributor for Midwest Basketball Club 3SSB and Saint Ignatius, Springer has shown the ability to fit in with other talented teammates. A good athlete with a head of steam, Springer has the vertical pop to throw one down on a defender underneath the rim. Also capable of making an open shot from the corner, Springer can provide valuable floor spacing from the forward position. I expect Springer to have a big year for a Saint Ignatius squad that has state title aspirations this winter.

I was really impressed with Springer in the game I watched and the highlight tape he posted from the weekend showed that the things I saw in the one game I scouted were being shown in every game. An impressive transition athlete, Springer threw down a couple slams on the fast break with a head of steam. Able to attack a closeout, Springer had a nice take from the baseline and finished with his preferred left hand on the right side. Also active on the offensive glass, Springer got second chance points for himself. Finally, showing some more shooting consistency this weekend, Springer has always been capable of making shots but is starting to raise his percentage from beyond the arc.

I could have chosen a few different guys from St. Ignatius in their game, but I felt Springer was the clear highest jumping prospect I had seen. Not the most athletic player at times, but very disciplined in his style of play and understands his size and how to use it. High IQ defender that can come out and defend the wings are body up with posts. What I liked most was how Springer would go to block shots with two hands and always straight up and down. Didn’t go for a highlight reel block, but rather utilize his length to try and disrupt shots, which is did. Springer could be a solid Division II prospect now for coaches looking into the 2024 class.

Springer showed some potential for Wildcats Select 16 U squad and with his size and athleticism he’s got the talent to make a big impact this winter for the Wildcats of Saint Ignatius. Springer was productive in the minutes he got over the summer and with the depth of forwards that Ignatius has, he’ll need to maximize his minutes this season.

Springer is a prospect I got a small glimpse in the spring but saw what he could really do this summer. Springer is a good athlete who showed the ability to finish around the basket explosively. I was also impressed with his defensive mobility when defending wings on the perimeter. Saint Ignatius is loaded with talent and Springer isn’t the biggest name on their team, but don’t forget about him as the Wildcats try to make it to states for a third straight year.
