Reece Raymond-Smith
About Reece
Expert Analysis
Michael Roth | Prep Hoops Scout
One of the top high academic prospects in the state, Raymond-Smith has over a 4.4 GPA and is receiving interest from high academic programs across the region. After averaging 14 and 8 on one of the top teams in northeast Ohio as a Junior, Raymond-Smith has taken on an even larger offensive role en route to scoring over 1,000 points in his high school career. A high IQ player who is a strong rebounder for his position and scores within the offense, I expect Raymond-Smith to have an easy transition to the college level.

Raymond-Smith made his debut during our last update and makes a move up our list after a strong spring with TNBA ‘ last=”]-Ohio. A versatile wing, Raymond-Smith just knows how to play and doesn’t take anything away on the court. Providing good rebounding for his size, Raymond-Smith also makes his teammates better with his passing. After a first team all-conference and honorable mention all-state season as a Junior, expect more accolades to come Raymond-Smith’s way when he’s the unquestioned top scoring option for the Bulldogs. Scholarship programs should take a look at Raymond-Smith this summer.

I caught TNBA -Ohio on the first night as they got an impressive overtime victory over Denard Bros. Raymond-Smith was very active on both ends of the court and found himself in the right spot over and over again. With this nose for the ball, he was able to grab a bunch of offensive rebounds and extend possessions for his team. Shooting the 3-pointer with confidence, his floor spacing was crucial for the slashers on his team. I also thought Raymond-Smith showed soft touch on floaters and other shots around the rim. A guy who just plays really hard and makes plays, Raymond-Smith and TNBA -Ohio are worth a watch for scholarship programs and Division III schools.

A versatile wing, Raymond-Smith was one of the key reasons why Stow was one of the top teams in northeast Ohio this season. I liked the way he moved his feet defensively with his size and body, suggesting he will be a productive defender at the college level. Nothing flashy about his game, Raymond-Smith makes simple attacks to the basket by attacking closeouts and going straight towards the rim. Looking to finish off two feet in the paint, that’s an ability that will translate to the college level. When I continue to watch Raymond-Smith play I’ll be monitoring how well he shoots it from the outside as I have a small sample of his 3-point shooting right now but he’s already proven he’s capable of making an open shot from long distance. A potential scholarship level prospect, check out Raymond-Smith with TNBA ‘ last=”]’ last=”]-Ohio this spring and summer.
