Centerville has gotten off to a fast start this season and Greenberg has averaged 18.5 PPG on 7 made 3-pointers already. A wing who will play tough defense and knock down shots, there isn’t a lot of flash in Greenberg’s game, but that’s not the style of play Centerville usually has. After starting Centerville on the outside looking in for our top 10 of Division I, early signs show the Elks will once again be a tough out for southwest Ohio teams.

It’s a new era for Centerville as the Elks have said goodbye to two straight incredible senior classes. It’s now the Greenberg twins team and the Elks have gone five in, five out this June with Ethan and Eli each leading a group. I was impressed with Greenberg’s off ball movement, making himself available to knock down spot-up 3-pointers. The Elks ran elevator screens, pick and pops and other actions to set Greenberg up for jumpers with his feet set. Defensively, Greenberg was very active and turned defense into offense a few times with a steal leading to a breakaway layup and tough on-ball defense turning into a transition 3-pointer. Greenberg looks like a utility wing at the scholarship level and should get some quality looks this summer.

Another wing who impacted the game in a variety of ways, Greenberg’s IQ stands out immediately in grassroots environments that aren’t super organized. Makes sense when you look at the type of high school program Greenberg has been playing with all winter. A kid who makes the right pass, plays hard at both ends and rebounds, Greenberg does a lot of little things on the court. As a driver, Greenberg isn’t going to dunk on anybody in the lane so instead he finishes off of two feet to keep stable balance and use his strength. Showing some improved ball skills off the bounce, I got to see Greenberg attack in different ways than during the high school season. Despite a funky release, Greenberg has consistently knocked down shots from the outside when his feet are set and once again Greenberg hit some key 3-pointers this weekend.

We recently discussed Ethan’s twin brother Eli as the pair have impressed this summer with Centerville during June and Midwest Basketball Club in July. Greenberg has a funky shot release but has been making shot consistently all summer. With his strong body, size and shooting ability, he checks a lot of boxes that scholarship programs look for in wing prospects. Combine that with the production that I expect him to have in the GWOC this season and his college recruitment will likely really pick up steam starting in the late winter and early spring.

Centerville is reloading with a new look squad and the Greenberg twins are going to be a key part in their success this winter. Ethan was knocking down shots from everywhere on Friday with confidence, hitting 3-pointers from the wing, corner and top of the key. Centerville is a tough out in the summer with how disciplined they are defensively and how little they turn the ball over. This team has a bunch of new faces getting action and the Elks are hungry to prove they’re still one of the top teams in Ohio. If Greenberg continues to shoot like this from 3-point range he will open up some eyes this winter.

Greenburg was impressive in the JV game for Centerville against Wayne. He brings a physical frame and has a true understanding of how to use his body through contact and on the offensive end. Literally powered through defenders on drives and had a put together defensive arsenal. Greenburg is part of a loaded Centerville team and could arguably start at any other school in the area. His role should continue to rise over the next few years.
