Midwest Basketball Club 3SSB 17u went 3-0 on the weekend at The Stage with Keely being one of their primary standouts. The 6’5″ guard has impressive positional size in the backcourt that he pairs with some excellent shooting ability. He was hot from three-point range, made some tough mid-range jump shots, and then used his size to finish at the end of his drives inside. Keely is a very impressive two-way perimeter player.

The first time I caught Centerville this year Keely was out with an injury, his presence was felt early with a baseline drive and monster slam dunk for the Elks first two points of the game. Keely had a tough turnaround jumper later in the first quarter and can play out of the triple threat well. With Keely back at 100% Centerville will be a tough out in the playoffs despite not starting a senior.

Keely had a big stretch in the second half when his Midwest squad started to extend their lead as he threw down a slam dunk off a backdoor cut, knocked down a corner 3 and made a nice extra pass for an assist. In addition to that quick stretch, Keely just makes small winning plays that don’t show up in the box score. Tipping rebounds back to teammates, diving on the floor, making the extra pass so the ball doesn’t stick all help you win and Keely does those things consistently. Excellent glue piece to a Midwest basketball club squad that can have anybody go off on any given night.

Keely will have big shoes to fill with the Greenberg twins graduating from the Elks program but based off what I’ve seen from Keely this spring, he’s more than ready to take on a leading role. Keely has an excellent motor and scores by just playing harder than other players a couple times a game. I’ve also been impressed by his growth as a ball handler, decisively attacking off the dribble and beating defenders off the dribble. Look for Keely to start getting Division I interest in June when schools can start directly contacting 2027 prospects.

A thrilling overtime game between Midwest Basketball Club 3SSB and All Ohio Red EYBL saw Keely simply will his team to victory. The versatile wing was playing harder than anybody else on the court and made play after play to finish off an incredible comeback. Keely’s most impressive play of the game came when he drove right down the middle of the court and threw down a nasty slam dunk right in front of me. I also thought Keely shot the ball with more confidence than I’ve ever seen from him. After not making three 3-pointers in any game during his sophomore season at Centerville, I had Keely down for three 3-pointers on Saturday evening with two of them coming off the dribble. Really loud performance to end Saturday night and make Keely the biggest stock riser of the entire weekend in my eyes.

Centerville was led by the Greenberg twins this year but Keely also had a coming out party of his own with some notable performances against top competition. A versatile wing forward who can do a variety of things with or without the ball in his hands, Keely is a guy I’ll be curious to see play with the ball in his hands a little more as a Junior. I am confident in him fitting in well with Midwest Basketball Club 3SSB with a similar role as he played with the Elks this winter.

I saw Keely for the first time back in December at the holiday hoopla and while he stood out at that event, his performance against Reynoldsburg further cemented his position as a top 30 ranked prospect in Ohio’s 2027 class. A versatile wing who can move without the ball and has the strength and size to finish at the rim, Keely was extremely productive in the second half as the Elks made a big push to pull off the upset. It’s impressive watching a Sophomore emerge as a primary scoring option for a program like Centerville and Keely has the frame and basketball IQ to fit in on the 3SSB circuit this summer with Midwest Basketball Club.

An interesting name out of the Dayton area, Keely has made his mark with a storied Centerville program this season averaging 10 PPG thus far. With the size and body type to attract Division I interest, Keely stands out for his age with his physical profile. I was also impressed with his versatility from the wing forward position, able to attack closeouts with either hand. I am curious how well Keely shoots the ball from 3-point range, definitely a skill to watch over the next few years with his game.
