One of the top shooters in the rising Senior class, Myrick is part of the Midwest Basketball Club program. A standout at Rupp Arena when the Colonels took on St. Xavier, Braeden is lean but he has gotten stronger and continues to improve at everything outside of shooting the three ball. He’s already really good at that.

Myrick has established himself as one of the best shooters in all of Kentucky. He’s deadly as a catch and shoot wing and continuing to improve off the bounce. Braeden will need to add bulk to his frame but he’s got a lot of tools. Myrick moved up from 22nd to 15th.

In his first season at Covington Catholic after transferring from Mason County, Braeden Myrick Braeden Myrick 6'4" | SG/SF Covington Catholic | 2027 State KY made an immediate and significant impact. He averaged 17 points per game, second on the team, while shooting 54.2% from the field, 45.7% from three-point range, and 87.3% from the free throw line. Myrick knocked down 106 three-pointers on the season, establishing himself as one of the top shooters in the state. He earned NKBBCA Division I All-Conference honors, surpassed the 1,000-point mark for his career, and picked up offers from Kentucky Christian and Tennessee Wesleyan. Myrick played a key role in the Colonels’ success throughout the season.

My second Covington Catholic game of the season and the second time Myrick has stood out defensively. With quick feet, hands and a long wingspan, Myrick was collecting cookies against unaware Conner guards early and often. One of the elite shooters in Kentucky’s 2027 class, Myrick hit a fly-by 3-pointer and also hit another one off a nice off-ball screening action vs a zone defense. Extremely impressed with Myrick’s improvement from the summer. 

Braeden Myrick Braeden Myrick 6'4" | SG/SF Covington Catholic | 2027 State KY ranks among the top 25 shooters in the state, averaging 3.1 threes per game while shooting an impressive 46.1% (94-for-204). Myrick is an elite perimeter scorer who can hurt defenses in multiple ways but excels as a catch-and-shoot threat with a quick release. He heats up quickly and can score from the top of the key, wings, or corners, even knocking down contested shots. His frame makes him even harder to defend from deep. Braeden set a season high with seven threes against St. Henry in December.

I knew Myrick was an elite shooter and he was making it rain from downtown on Friday evening for the Colonels. What really stood out to me though was how hard Myrick played in the full court press, getting four steals in the first half alone. Another aspect of his game that’s much improved from when I last saw him in the summer is Myrick’s passing ability. Myrick was unselfish and making quick advances up the court to teammates and had six assists in the first half alone. That quick processing and unselfishness is how Covington Catholic can score 95 points and run teams out the gym on a consistent basis.

Myrick is a big time shooter. He transferred to Covington Catholic from Mason County and should benefit from playing on the wing with McGillis and Cash Harney Cash Harney 5'11" | PG Covington Catholic | 2026 State KY handling the ball and distributing. Braeden is extremely skinny and has a long way to go with his adding weight to his frame but he’s one of the top catch and shoot threats in the state.

Braeden Myrick Braeden Myrick 6'4" | SG/SF Covington Catholic | 2027 State KY transferred to Park Hills from Mason County, but proved just how talented he is. He’s capable of catching fire in a hurry and staying hot. His strong handle and smart shot selection make it difficult for defenders to force turnovers or contest his looks. Myrick can knock down shots from well beyond the arc and has a quick, deadly release. With the talent surrounding him at Covington Catholic, he can easily gel right away and will get better, while making his team better as one of the area’s top scorers.

Braeden made a big leap in his Sophomore season at Mason County before making the move to Covington this summer.

A new addition to the Covington Catholic squad, Myrick is an elite wing shooter who caught fire as a spot-up shooter. When Myrick has his feet set, he usually connects from long distance and Covington Catholic does an excellent job of finding Myrick when he’s open. Next time when I watch Myrick I’ll be looking for him to make an impact as a defender or passer, two skills that could take his game to the next level.
