The intangibles Ellis brings to the court are off the charts as few players play with the heart he does on both ends. You won’t find many on-ball defenders that work like Ellis does and he does a nice job playing off the Greenberg twins offensively as a shooter. With the motor Ellis plays at, it’s hard for me to see him not earning minutes at the college level.

After getting bench minutes for Centerville as a Junior and scoring 3.8 PPG, Ellis should have a larger role for the Elks this upcoming season. I’ve been impressed with his spot-up shooting and high energy play with Midwest Basketball Club Cincy Gold this spring. With his shooting, high energy and high IQ play, Ellis should be a valuable high school piece and his high GPA will make him attractive to high academic schools.

It was a strong weekend for Centerville players I caught in Pittsburgh as Ellis is the third player from the Elks program I’m highlighting. It usually doesn’t take long to spot a Centerville player at the grassroots level, they seem to all play with a sense of urgency, make the extra pass and hustle on both ends. All those things could be used to describe Ellis. Ellis showed me more on Saturday than I’d previously seen from his game, making shots off the catch and making an impact defensively. By keeping his role simple, he starred in what he was asked to do and looks like a prospect small college programs will want to add to their roster from southwest Ohio’s 2025 class.
