A kid who I’m sure a lot of fans around Ohio don’t know about because of where he’s from. If you can’t tell by the name, Lovely is from the southernmost city in Ohio. Right on the Ohio river, Lovely has a ton of talent with the ball in his hands. Last season he completely dominated in a district championship with 37 points. He’ll hope to replicate that playoff magic with the Pointers this season. One of the most talented players from southeast Ohio, don’t let the area he’s from stop you from learning about what Lovely can bring to the court.

Another small-town sleeper, Lovely comes from the most southern town in Ohio, South Point. An impressive athlete who can put up monster numbers at the high school level, Lovely had some big games at Midwest Live and I expected more scholarship interest to come after that event. He’s still flown under the radar and seems to be a prospect that regional Division II and NAIA schools in Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia should be taking a look at.

A 31 point game where he did everything to keep his team in the game, Lovely once again put on a show for South Point. An impressive athlete who can go from stop to start in an instant and blow by primary defenders, Lovely had the whole offensive arsenal going on Saturday evening. A dangerous pull-up shooter, Lovely had a stretch where it seemed like he couldn’t miss in the third quarter making shots off the bounce and catch from mid-range and 3-point area. While he is a hard left attacker, Lovely uses his strength and balance to stay square with the rim even when defenders are able to stay with him off the bounce. His most impressive bucket of the game was when he went up with the left hand and switched mid-air to his right and finished through a shot blocker. One of the more naturally talented kids I’ve seen come from southeast Ohio over the past handful of years, if Lovely can consistently show that he’s able to help his team win without scoring the basketball he should see a spike in recruiting interest.

Another southeast Ohio stud, Lovely had his breakout game in the district championship when he scored 39 points to lead his team past Zane Trace. An impressive athlete and scorer, Lovely has big time talent for a small-town prospect. This came immediately after Lovely hit a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to stun Fairland and win 48-46 in the district semifinals. A prospect who has shown up in the big-time moments, Lovely is a name to know from the southernmost point in the state.

One of the most talented players in southeast Ohio, Lovely won conference and district player of the year as a Junior. My first time watching him was in the playoffs where he scored almost 40 points in a district title victory. I then watched him at Midwest Basketball Club’s showcase where he continued to show his natural talent with the ball in his hands and ability to create for himself. The biggest thing for Lovely to show this spring and summer will be consistency. If Lovely can remain consistent with his effort on both ends and make plays for others, he should attract plenty of scholarship interest.

Lovely is one of the most talented scorers in southeast Ohio and that was on full display on Sunday as he made some impressive shots off the bounce creating for himself. Lovely is an impressive shooter off the bounce and with his good burst and dribbling moves, he’s one of the better isolation scorers in Ohio’s 2024 class. I expect scholarship programs to check Lovely out this spring and summer as the natural talent he displays is impressive.

The goal of covering small town basketball is to find some under the radar hidden gems and that’s exactly what Lovely is. The Junior guard scored 39 points to carry his team to the district title in the nightcap on Sunday at the Convo. The lefty was the most athletic player on the court and nobody on Zane Trace was able to stay in front of him all game. Getting to the basket whenever he wanted, Lovely used crossovers and euro steps to finish at the rim. Also knocking down a couple 3-pointers and mid-range pull-ups, Lovely showed his diverse scoring game. This game showed that Lovely is likely a scholarship prospect and will get looks from Division II and NAIA programs over the next 12 months.
