Many programs still have available scholarships to use in the transfer portal or for high school seniors that wait until late to sign. In this article we’ll feature five shooting guards who should be on college radars.
One of the most talented seniors still available in Ohio, Gadson has a ton of natural talent. One of the most athletic guards in Ohio, Gadson is a big time athlete with his burst and explosiveness. Able to catch fire from downtown as well, Gadson has the ability to take over games with his shooting ability. Buchtel is a defending state champion and while they lost a lot of key pieces from last season, they still have enough talent to make another deep tournament run. We’ll see if a deep playoff push keeps Gadson in the spotlight, he currently holds an offer from Northern Illinois University.
A kid who I’m sure a lot of fans around Ohio don’t know about because of where he’s from. If you can’t tell by the name, Lovely is from the southernmost city in Ohio. Right on the Ohio river, Lovely has a ton of talent with the ball in his hands. Last season he completely dominated in a district championship with 37 points. He’ll hope to replicate that playoff magic with the Pointers this season. One of the most talented players from southeast Ohio, don’t let the area he’s from stop you from learning about what Lovely can bring to the court.
A 3-and-D wing who can make shots from the outside, Goodman has a lot of the skills that college programs look for in shooting guards and wings. With his length, defensive activity and ability to hit shots from the perimeter, I’m honestly surprised Concord is the only program to offer Goodman. We’ll see if any new programs come calling late about Goodman as he passes the eye test and has the production to match. I’m honestly surprised more schools haven’t prioritized Goodman in the recruiting process.

There’s always small town talent in NW Ohio that have productive college careers and I think Brewer has the chance to do that. After making the final four as a Sophomore, Brewer has done a nice job as the main piece for the Archers the past two seasons. A standout on both the hardwood and the gridiron, Brewer has led Antwerp to some signature wins this season. Brewer recently became the all time leading scorer for Antwerp as well. Division II and NAIA programs from Ohio and Indiana should be taking a strong look at Brewer right now.

Louisville has been a team that’s received a lot of love from us this season and for good reason. Nigro recently stood out in a win over Lutheran East and earned his first offer from Concord after the game. A strong guard who wants to get downhill and use his strength to bully you in the paint, Nigro has a unique style of play that has been effective at both the high school and grassroots level. Once he gets a head of steam to the basket, he’s either scoring or headed to the free throw line. Expect to see more programs like Concord take interest to Nigro as his senior season winds down.
