One of the most athletic players in the Federal League, Sims can thrive out in transition and knock down catch and shoot jumpers. After a big breakout last summer, Sims has continued to establish himself as one of the top players in the Akron/Canton area from the class of 2025. It’ll be interesting to see where Sims ends up as it appears his recruitment is pretty open at the moment after splitting time with Wildcat Select and OBC during the 17 U grassroots season.

A prospect who is developing into his talents this season, Sims has taken a big step in terms of production and consistency this season. Always having the physical tools to be an impact defender, we’ve seen Sims more consistently make an impact on the defensive side of the court with blocked shots and steals. Obviously, the perimeter shooting and dunks are what jump off the page when watching Sims, but the improvements he’s made in other areas of the game have us excited about his long-term potential at the college level. We’ll be following his summer with Wildcat Select, where he should get the majority of his college looks from.

Sims is pretty unknown outside of Northeast Ohio but I think he’ll explode this winter with Canton McKinley. With new head coach Sean Weatherspoon implementing an up-tempo system, expect Sims to throw down some highlight slam dunks on defenders this winter.

Canton McKinley hired a new coach that will want the Pups playing fast and getting out in transition, that’s a system where

is going to thrive in. The athletic wing guard has the explosiveness to throw it down in transition and knock down open shots on the perimeter, he has the talent to take over games. The Federal League is a grind it out type conference but if the Pups can use their athleticism and aggressiveness to disrupt what opponents want to do, they could shake up the conference title race that always has a few surprises.

Sims is a spectacular athlete. One of the wings is skinny and athletic. Super bouncy and he loves to show it off. He tried to dunk everything. And it led him to have a lot of dunks. A lengthy wing who plays with a lot of energy. He showed some good skill and touch around the rim. Had multiple mid-range pull-ups. A nice shooter but likes getting to the rim more.

One of the biggest jumps any player on our list made, Sims was a prospect I didn’t get to watch during his Sophomore season with Canton McKinley. After seeing him in June with the Pups, it was clear that he’s grown a couple inches and really improved athletically. Having one of the highlights of Midwest live with a poster slam, that play shows the athletic growth he’s made in the past 12 months. Always been a good shooter with his feet set, with his growth spurt he’s more capable of shooting over smaller defenders. Canton McKinley has a new head coach and will look to get back near the top of the federal league with Sims leading the way.

The last time I got to watch Sims was at this event a year prior so it was good to get eyes on him again. Sims has grown a couple inches over the past 12 months and looks to be 6’4 and pushing 6’5 with his hair. The second-best highlight play of the weekend came when Sims dunked on a Lakota West defender who tried contesting his attempt. There’s still some athletic and physical upside in Sims as he’s still young in the face and could be still growing and maturing physically. Sims sat most of the second half as McKinley let some new faces shine in the victory. Sims has had a solid season for Canton McKinley in the tight federal league. A wing guard who has some on-ball ability, Sims mostly plays a spot-up and attack closeouts role for the Pups right now with their upperclassmen guards. An impressive athlete, Sims has some upside that he can show over the next few years. I like where Sims is at now within his development and see him only getting better this spring and summer and really showing what he can do as a Junior and Senior.
