Fans in every state want to know who the breakout players could be and in this article, we’ll put the spotlight one five 2025 prospects who could breakout as Juniors.
Reynoldsburg is a team with a ton of young talent and should be one of the top teams in central Ohio this winter. With their 2025 duo of Jordan Fisher Jordan Fisher 6’5″ | SF Reynoldsburg | 2025 State #392 Nation OH and Nwokolo, the Raiders gained the experience last year to now contend this season. Nwokolo was a prospect who really caught my eye in the month of June, showing advanced progression off the bounce and as a shooter. If Nwokolo continues to play with that confidence, he’ll be one of the toughest covers in the area.
Olentangy Orange had a historic season last year, led by a senior trio of guards who all committed to play Division II basketball for this season. Those three have walked out the door but Brown is now set to take command as a leader this winter. With some depth pieces returning and young prospects moving up from JV to varsity, Olentangy Orange will still be a contender in central Ohio. With Brown getting more reps to show off his scoring and play-making ability, I expect some big performances this winter.
Canton McKinley hired a new coach that will want the Pups playing fast and getting out in transition, that’s a system where Reed Sims Jr Reed Sims Jr 6’5″ | SG Canton McKinley | 2025 State OH is going to thrive in. The athletic wing guard has the explosiveness to throw it down in transition and knock down open shots on the perimeter, he has the talent to take over games. The Federal League is a grind it out type conference but if the Pups can use their athleticism and aggressiveness to disrupt what opponents want to do, they could shake up the conference title race that always has a few surprises.
Highlights
McMorris made the transfer from Gahanna to Northland and will provide some needed height and athleticism in the paint for the defending Columbus City League champions. With an opportunity for minutes and lots of talent around him, McMorris could dominate inside the paint with a ton of dunk and lob opportunities. Northland is the clear favorite in the Columbus City League North, but if they make the championship once again, will face stiff competition from the south champion for the title.
A prospect who really raised his stock this summer, Gross had impressive moments with both the Gurus of Go and Louisville. Always been an athletic above the rim forward, Gross has continued to use his motor to outhustle opponents and has improved his skill level on the perimeter as well. Louisville faces a tough schedule and despite losing star Will Aljancic to graduation, they have the pieces to contend for a Division I district title with Hayden Nigro Hayden Nigro 6’4″ | SG Louisville | 2024 State OH , Beau Siegfried Beau Siegfried 6’0″ | PG Louisville | 2025 State OH and Gross leading the way.
