Legynds Score 16U Win vs Team United

First up we caught some 16U action as Legynds won over Team United 63-54. They feature massive 7'3” center Dylan Betts who is just a force inside with his pure size and length. The lefty is very efficient around the hoop with his post touches and has some passing feel as well. Rebounds well in his area and as you would expect is a game changer defensively as he had 17 points (7-11 FG), 9 rebounds, and 8 blocks. Marceles Duncan is a quick twitched scoring wing we saw at Elite 100 where he shined. Didn't shoot it particularly well from deep in this game, but we loved how he put his nose down and got to the rim notching 16 points (3-11 FG) (8-8 FT) and 9 rebounds. The x-factor for them in this game was the well rounded game of Damonte Owens going for 20 points (8-13 FG), 5 rebounds, and 5 dimes.

Micah Gunter paced Team United with 12 points (4-12 FG), 4 rebounds, and 4 assists. Super athletic guard who has a ton of burst with the rock in his hands. His running mate Isaac Smith also chipped in 12 points (6-12 FG).

Black Continues to Make Case for #1 in AB Elite Win

The race for the top 2027 prospect in the country is open and Beckham Black continues to make a statement in July why it should be him. Did it again on Thursday with a 76-63 victory leading his AB Elite 17U squad over Brad Beal Elite. The lead guard is so dynamic with the ball in his hands breaking down defenses with his passing instincts along with big time scoring ability which was on full display in a game where he dropped 24 points (8-15 FG) (3-7 3PT) and 6 assists which is about an average game for the five-star. Isaiah Santos is a four man out of Texas we have liked for a while. High motor forward that can play inside and out went for 16 points (4-8 FG) (2-2 3PT) (6-7 FT) and 6 rebounds. Aiden Groce was the difference maker for AB Elite coming up with 11 points (5-8 FG) and 7 rebounds.

On the Brad Beal Elite side it was a fairly balanced attack. La Lumiere (IN) guard Devin Cleveland paced BBE with 18 points (6-14 FG) (4-9 3PT). Great matchup between him and Black as the five-star guards are two of the best in the country. Cleveland is a slick creator that did a nice job of shooting it from beyond the arc in this particular game along with using his athleticism scoring in the paint. Iowa State commit Josiah Harrington had a solid game with his activity level around the hoop scoring 10 points. Same can be said about bouncy post Davis Cochran who dropped 10 points (4-6 FG), 10 rebounds, and 2 blocks in the loss. Shot fake for a blow by finish followed by anther emphatic slam while mixing in mid-range shots and rebounding well. Tyran Frazier from Principia was extremely efficient going for 15 points (3-6 FG) (1-1 3PT) (8-11 FT). Wiry post that hit a pick/pop three while doing most of his damage inside and getting to the line.

Spratt in the First Half and Pettigrew Takes Over in 2nd Half for BBE 16U Victory over NW Rotary

This game was crazy as the perimeter players went back and forth all game long. It looked like NW Rotary 16U had it up two with just a few seconds left. Bolingbrook shooting guard Brady Pettigrew said not so fast my friend! He got isolation off a baseline out of bounds play around the elbow and drained a super tough turnaround jumper while getting fouled. The bucket tied the game, then the free throw won it as there was no time left. After a slow start Pettigrew went straight beast mode in the second half! Got a couple of scores in transition at the start of the 3rd quarter which got his confidence going. He attacked the rim consistently the rest of the game getting two feet in the paint while maneuvering his body to make crazy finishes. He ended the game with 21 points (9-14 FG), 4 assists, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals. His running mate Anthony Spratt from Benton (AR) was the one carrying them in the first half. He went for 21 points (9-16 FG) (3-4 3PT) and 5 steals. Broad shouldered and athletic wing has really improved his skill level over the last year which has elevated his game to another level. Become a plus shooter to go with everything else he brings including being a monster perimeter defender. James Humphreys is an over looked post on this team at times with his ability around the hoop being the junk yard dog as he had 11 points (5-8 FG) and 6 rebounds.

The top player nationally in 2029 JJ Crawford is the real deal! In my first look at him he went for 17 points (7-13 FG) (3-5 3PT). The son of former NBA elite 6th man Jamal Crawford has a slick handle like dad and might actually be a better perimeter shot maker. The ease he got into his shots draining them in the mid-range and three was really impressive. Jordan Mize had his moments especially in the first half as the left handed scoring guard is creative with the rock getting to the cup for scores in the paint going for 14 points (6-10 FG). Owen Eteuati-Edwards is a personal favorite of mine each time I see him. The skilled utility four man stuffs the stat sheet with his best asset maybe being his passing. Found guys on the move consistently with his instincts. Quality area rebounder that brings physicality scoring down low including backing his man in to take the lead before Pettigrew's heroics on the last possession. He had 13 points (5-6 FG), 9 rebounds, and 6 assists.

Double 40 Ball As Highly Ranked Guard Daughtery and Under the Radar Fason Torch Nets

What a fantastic performance by two stellar guards in the last game we caught as the NY Rens topped Florida Rebels 84-83 in triple OT. Yes there were other players on the floor, but the show came down to “I can do anything you can do better” matchup between five-star guard Cayden Daughtery and unranked national prospect Troy Fason. The matched each other bucket for bucket all game long. Fason led his Rens squad to the win with his non stop motor and ability to get downhill at will. Lived at the free throw line while also shooting it pretty well from deep. Went for 41 points (11-20 FG) (4-7 3PT) (15-18 FT), 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals in an epic performance that said he had arrived!

The other Florida star guard Cayden Daughtery for the Rebels also had a huge game of his own scoring multiple times to send the game into extra sessions including a crazy three almost out of bounds that tipped up in the air forever before falling in ala Kahwi Leonard shot with Raptors back in the day. Such tight handles getting to his spots, getting to the foul line, and also shooting it well from distance as he notched 43 points (14-24 FG) (4-7 3PT) (11-13 FT), 3 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals.
