McMorris was a presence on the court all game. He changed the ability of Aficentric to attack the basket. He blocked or altered a ton of shots. His rim-protecting presence allowed the Northland guard to be more aggressive on zone defense because he would clean everything up at the rim. He then showed good strong aggressive takes. He has an improved mentality of being dominant. He uses his size to his advantage way better.

McMorris had a big strong game on Friday against Richmond Heights. He had a big-time height advantage and used it well. He was attacking the glass hard on both ends and created a huge problem for the other team. It felt like his hand was on every single rebound. He was a physical player, and you could see players moving out of the way as the game went on. He had multiple and-1s. He had an impressive dunk late in the game.

McMorris is an athletic freak of a big man. His first season at Northland last year was one that his mismatch size showed. Not many were able to match the size and athleticism. He can do everything you want him to do on the floor athletically – block and alter shots along with grabbing rebounds. He finishes around the rim well. He has amazing length and I expect this year for him to show truly how much of a mismatch he is.

McMorris played one of the better games I’ve seen from him this season. He was a difference in the game for most of it because of his size and length. He was able to get the ball at points others on the floor couldn’t. Northland was feeding him early and often in the paint when McMorris was in and it worked. He got the ball and made quick strong moves. He was finishing well in the paint. He had a very impressive drive and reverse baseline finish. Once he fouled out the dynamic of the game changed.

McMorris made the transfer from Gahanna to Northland and will provide some needed height and athleticism in the paint for the defending Columbus City League champions. With an opportunity for minutes and lots of talent around him, McMorris could dominate inside the paint with a ton of dunk and lob opportunities. Northland is the clear favorite in the Columbus City League North, but if they make the championship once again, will face stiff competition from the south champion for the title.

McMorris has had a huge spring for Nova’s 16 U squad and dominated on the interior. During the second half he had a couple breakaway dunks that put an exclamation point on Nova’s big late charge to turn a nine-point deficit into a double-digit victory. McMorris was dominating on the interior and has expanded his post game with a couple nice spin moves and offhand finishes. Nova also flipped a switch when Westerville North guards

turned up the defensive intensity and caused OBC’s guards trouble with their ball pressure. Young and Perkins are excellent at turning defense into offense and once Nova had some momentum it just continued to build until the final buzzer.

Nova brings a talented 2025 UA Rise squad to this event. With so many talented pieces, we picked one guard, wing and forward to spotlight. Pretty much every member on their team could be worthy of making this article.

McMorris is a big athletic kid. Listed at 6’7 and is built well with wide shoulders he showcases very explosive leaping ability. When he jumps it seems like he is looking down on the rim. He was in foul trouble in the game I watched but when he was in the game he showed some great tools and fundamentals of being a really good player. He is super coordinated and moves with quickness and speed. He has a forward body but moves like a guard. He can switch to any position when defending the ball screens. I am a big fan of McMorris’s games because he has a lot of unteachables.

McMorris is a prospect I got to watch for the first time since last July over the weekend and I left impressed with his activity around the rim. Scoring with both hands in the paint, McMorris is one of the more athletic bigs in the 2025 class. Getting numerous offensive rebounds and put-back layups, McMorris was getting easy buckets that were valuable for Nova’s 16 U squad this weekend. Tried showing off a bit of a mid-range game, he had a few bad misses but connected on a pair in the two games I caught as well. His shooting is a work in progress, but I thought he shot free throws with confidence. McMorris is set for a breakout Junior season in central Ohio with his talent and athleticism.

McMorris won UA Rise 15 U MVP after helping lead his Nova Village squad to a UA Rise championship. That program has a couple players who could break out, including

, but I choose McMorris because Gahanna will have a completely new look roster this winter after graduating a core group that won a lot of games during their careers. McMorris will have the chance to step in as one of the leading scorers and rebounders for the Golden Lions.
