Lawson is one of the best players in the state so you know he will deliver in big games. He did that on Friday night. After a slow start, back-to-back dunks from Lawson made it all Pick North the rest of the way. He then showed great playmaking ability. He has a gravity on the court, and he recognizes this, so he simplifies the game and gets it to the open teammate. When they needed him to score, he did. He has a quick explosive pull-up midrange game. He is good at fading away while knocking down his shots. He showed more focus on the defensive end on Friday.

Lawson showcased why he is one of the best players in the state of Ohio during his time at the Lima Mega Scrimmage. He showcased his athleticism. He scored in a variety of ways with ease in many different scenarios. Lawson also made his teammates look goof by setting the up for success. Duquesne got a good one in Lawson.

Lawson is a different type of athlete that most can not match. He is extremely explosive and has some other level fast twitch. He had a mean fast-break poster tonight. It is very difficult to even stay in front of him. He has a tight handle and makes stabbing, quick, misdirection moves that get you off balance. He will then blow by him and make plays. He did a great job tonight of seeing the entire floor at all points. He found an open teammate consistently.

One of the most athletic players in Ohio, Lawson moves at a different speed than anybody else on the court. A blur in transition, it almost looks like Lawson is playing sped up while everybody else is moving in normal speed on the court. Having some thunderous dunks, Lawson gave the numerous videographers in the stands something to post with his performance. The future Duquesne Duke looks like a guard who could play early in his college career.

One of the most athletic players in the state, Lawson is a blur on the court. With his ability to force turnovers and get easy buckets, Lawson should put up monster stats facing a tough schedule this season. If Pickerington North establishes themselves as a top team in Columbus with Lawson leading the way, I could see him making a case for the award. The city of Pickerington just won the award in 2023 when Pickerington Central star Devin Royal won the award.
