Michael Roth | Prep Hoops Scout
A point guard who helps his team win, Martin does the dirty work on both ends of the court. A good on-ball defender who is tough and sets the table for his teammates, Martin plays an old-school style of play that college coaches will enjoy coaching. His teammate Dallas Tucker Dallas Tucker 5'11" | PG Westerville Central | 2024 State OH is another one of the top available point guards in the state. The difference in styles for their game mean coaches could watch film on both of these players and pick their cup of tea. Martin has posted one offer from Wheaton while Tucker has posted one from Capital University.

Martin, the son of Westerville Central Head Coach and former Big South Player of the Year Kevin Martin, has had an impressive summer with Nova Village on the UA Rise Circuit. A guard who just makes plays on both ends, Martin is a tough point of attack defender. Showing improved confidence shooting off the bounce and creating for himself, Martin plays with impressive pace and takes care of the basketball. Wheaton is the first school Martin has posted an offer from, but I know other Division III programs very interested in recruiting him. Expect his recruitment to take shape later this fall and into the winter as Westerville Central has a chance to be one of the top teams in Columbus with an experienced core of returning production.

The MVP of session II, Martin impacted winning for his team in a variety of ways. Martin might’ve led the whole camp in assists with his ability to push the pace and spread the floor for shooters. An efficient scorer as well, Martin didn’t force it often and shot a high percentage from the floor. A guard who helps you win, Martin is a high priority small college target and likely increased his stock in front of over a dozen college coaches on Wednesday.

The second Westerville Central guard featured, Martin is a tough defender who has the ability to beat defenders off the bounce as either the lead guard or off guard in an offense. Martin plays for his Dad during both the high school and grassroots seasons as their Nova Village 16 U squad was competitive on the UA Rise circuit. As a Sophomore, Martin averaged 7 PPG with a season high of 14 against rival Westerville South, I expect those numbers to increase and for there to be some intense battles between the three Westerville OCC schools.
