Margaretta let this one slip away late losing to Northridge 58-55. However, this Dayton signee was the most impressive prospect on the floor for the vast majority of the game. The 6’4″ guard shoots so well off of the dribble, gets great elevation on his jump shot, and is always under control. Washington finished with 23 points and 8 rebounds in the loss.
The Dayton commit is playing on a Margaretta squad that went 21-1 last season and will have a chance at an unbeaten regular season this year. An elite shooter and athlete, Washington will light up the scoreboard and give fans plenty to cheer about throughout the season. Recently, Colin White won Mr Basketball at a similarly sized northwest Ohio public school, could Washington follow in his footsteps and claim Ohio’s ultimate individual accolade?
The newest Dayton Flyer, Washington committed after the first quarter of Margaretta’s senior night for football last Friday. The Ohio Buckets
sharpshooter was one of the top long range snipers on the EYCL circuit this summer and has the ability to catch fire from long distance. Washington has good positional size, is an improved defender and has the confidence to make shots in the Atlantic 10 from day one. I really like the fit with Anthony Grant’s system and think Washington has a chance to compete for rotation minutes when he steps foot on campus.
Washington has been a consistent scorer for the Ohio Buckets
all summer and he continued his impressive play on Tuesday with a 17 point and 7 rebound performance in a win over Team Herro. A dynamic movement shooter, Washington hit some tough shots running off screens and using his quick release to beat the defense contests. Also getting to the rim in transition and when he could attack a closeout, Washington found ways to score in the paint when the defense tried running him off the 3-point line. One of the top prospects in Ohio’s 2026 class, we’ll see if Washington starts to narrow down his list after receiving dozens of offers.
Washington is a household name in Ohio, and sometimes those players become satisfied and stop working as hard or caring as much. This is not the case with Washington. One of the best parts of his game is his motor. He dives on the ground, plays almost the entire game, seems to never get tired, and is a great encourager to teammates. His game continues to become more well-rounded. His passing and court vision are impressive, along with how willing a passer he is. He sees the floor well and shows off his high IQ for the game. He scored a couple of tough buckets, which you can expect from Washington. He will not be stopped from scoring. His defense was a takeaway as well. He took on the challenge of guarding one of the state’s best scorers in the game I watched and shut him down. You could tell there was a focus and intensity on that end. He has the wingspan and athleticism to do this to anyone he plays against and has proven it.
The Ohio Buckets
had a bunch of Division I coaches at their games this weekend and many were there to see Washington and he ended the weekend with a big performance in a blowout win over Bates Fundamentals
. A sharpshooter off the ball, Washington has a lightning quick release and has continued to improve his shot over the past two years. Also able to play above the rim, Washington had some breakaway slam dunks and had a strong and-1 layup finish off a patented backdoor play the Ohio Buckets
have been running for years. Washington has one of the deepest offer lists in the state and his most recent offer came from Butler, who had a coach at multiple of his games this weekend.
Washington’s level of competitiveness stuck out to me this weekend. He showed to be a leader and player who cared about every game as if it was the championship game. He plays hard and respects the game. His athleticism and skillset have peaked a lot of colleges eyes and this will only continue. He is the go-to guy on a loaded Ohio Buckets
EYCL squad. I see why because of the energy and love for the game he brings. His shooting has improved immensely in the last year and its taken his game to a new level.
Washington had the performance of the weekend by exploding for 40 points against Indiana Elite on Saturday. An incredible perimeter shooting display, Washington has made his release even quicker and is shooting the ball with a ton of confidence. Washington did an excellent job of moving without the basketball and his teammates gave him passes that were on time and on target to fire away from long range. As an athlete Washington had a few eye-popping plays including a chase down block off the backboard and a couple impressive transition slam dunks. While Washington has been a priority for mid major programs for well over a year, he might get some high major interest if this type of performance continues.
Despite a slower start on the offensive end in the first half Washington erupted in the 2nd half with 19 of his game high 25 points. Washington sparked Margaretta with his 2-way play. He was able to showcase his athleticism on both ends of the floor. He showed that he could push the ball up the floor. Washington processes the game well and found shooters with ease. When he was playing off the ball he was shot ready so he could get the ball off in a timely fashion. Washington was a threat from behind the arc cashing in on four threes. He made a living at the charity stripe converting all seven of his attempts.
