Perkins had a big game at the All Ohio Hoops Showcase to open the season with a win over Columbus Africentric. Perkins has been one of the top point guards in the Dayton area for a couple years now and is the leader of the Wayne squad this season. It’ll be interesting to see what level Perkins ends up at, he has some games in marquee events to continue to be seen by coaches at the college level.

A big-time comeback for Huber Heights Wayne was fueled by Perkins in the second half. Finishing with 24 points on 5/10 from 3-point range, Perkins was efficient from the floor while also knocking down all of his five free-throw attempts. His most impressive bucket I caught was a lefty layup just before the first quarter buzzer after he beat a defender off the dribble. For Wayne to be successful this year, they’ll need Perkins on his A game more times than not.

Perkins had a really solid weekend down in Rock Hill with MR22 Elite at the 3SSB finals. After Juan Cranford Jr and Lawrent Rice have graduated the past 2 seasons, it’s Perkins turn to lead the Wayne train through the GWOC. He has the talent to be near the top of the conference in scoring and assists as a senior. It will be interesting to see which programs end up prioritizing Perkins who can excel in the pick and roll.

Perkins really improved his stock during the 3SSB finals with MR22, playing the best basketball I’d seen him play since he exploded at Flyin’ To The Hoop in January. A point guard who can really pass the ball, Perkins does a nice job swinging the rock on time and on target. A capable shooter from downtown, when Perkins is knocking down shots he can be a really tough cover. Huber Heights Wayne will go as Perkins drives them, they have some intriguing young guards but Perkins is the unquestioned leader of one of the premier programs in the GWOC.

Perkins played probably the best game I have ever seen him play on Wednesday night as MR22 got a nice win to wrap up the evening. The additions of Perkins and Cj Collins both played key roles in their win. Not only did Perkins knock down shots from the outside, but he also made some nifty passes in the pick and roll and in transition. After struggling offensively in their morning game, it was nice to see MR22 find a rhythm on that end and put the ball in the basket on a consistent basis.

Unfortunately, Perkins only got to play half a season last year but after scoring 6.3 PPG in 10 games last season, he’s set to be an all-conference performer this winter. After a strong spring with Team Wildcat HGSL 16 U, Perkins and Juan Cranford Jr were dominant for Wayne in the month of June as a guard duo. Look for Perkins to be a household name in the Dayton area by the midway point of the season.

is going to be the engine of the Wayne train this winter. After only appearing in the first half of games due to OHSAA transfer rules, Perkins had a big month of June with the Warriors and is expected to have a huge Junior season. A point guard who plays with good pace and can find his teammates in positions to score, Perkins is also capable of lighting it up from 3-point range when he’s asked to be a scorer. The GWOC is filled with talent as usual, but Perkins should be near the conference leaders in points and assists per game.

A stock rising lead guard this spring with Team Wildcat 16 U, Perkins is able to take charge of the Wayne offense after being forced to sit out the second half of his sophomore season due to OHSAA transfer rules. Expect Perkins to be a household name in the Dayton area this season.
