Bigs are always valued by college programs and Gilbert fills a role as a rim protector and a finisher at the rim with his athleticism and size. Also starting to stretch out his offensive game with increased volume from the perimeter. I expect more scholarship programs to get involved with Gilbert throughout his senior season.

Our final member of the second team, Gilbert is a force in the paint and was able to block shots all day at the rim when guards tried driving on him. Gilbert is set for a strong senior season after building positive momentum throughout this fall league.

One of the most intriguing prospects in the league, Gilbert is an intriguing big man who can really dominate a game from the paint. Protecting the rim is one of his calling cards. Able to protect the rim without fouling, his hands are disciplined when contesting shots. Able to score at will on the block against smaller bigs, Gilbert was a tough cover for undersized opponents. Look for Gilbert to attract a lot of scholarship interest this winter.

Named MVP of the first session, Gilbert was dominating the paint with his ability to time up blocked shots and get every possible rebound. Some of the blocked shots looked way too easy for Gilbert as he was sending them either to a teammate or out of bounds completely. Developing his perimeter offensive game, he hit a couple 3-pointers and continues to develop each time I watch him play. Scholarship programs will likely make Gilbert a priority as he continues his senior season.

We’ve written about Gilbert a few times recently with the biggest new change being his confidence to shoot the ball from the perimeter. While I’m encouraged by his perimeter shooting progression, I still want to see Gilbert dominate in the paint and use his strength to his advantage. A physical forward, Gilbert is athletic and getting better each time I watch him play. High academic programs should be interested in Gilbert with his physical tools and production. Gilbert’s Midwest Basketball Club Quinn team will attract small college programs at every event they play at.

Gilbert has expanded his game to include a 3-point shot and let it fly with confidence on Sunday. Doing a bunch of pick and pop looks, Gilbert shot the ball much better from the outside than I’ve previously seen from him. While I liked seeing Gilbert stretch the floor, I still want to see him roll to the hoop, finish through contact and be physical in the paint. He did that at times on Sunday but was more focused on shooting jumpers. Gilbert is going to be a priority for scholarship programs and his team is filled with small college talent on the roster with guys like

shooting the ball at a high level from the outside on Sunday, I’d imagine tons of Division III coaches will be watching this team at prep hoops circuit events.

Maybe the most dominant player at the camp, Gilbert was dunking everything around the rim and making a huge impact defensively with his rim protection ability. Gilbert does a good job of blocking and contesting shots without fouling. His offense is a work in progress right now but Gilbert has made strides in aggressiveness around the rim and touch around the basket. This is a scholarship level prospect who should get Division II and NAIA interest this spring and summer.

Gilbert has all the tools to be an extremely good player. He is listed as 6’6 with remarkably long arms. He has thick legs and needs to add some weight to his upper body but his athleticism covers up for it. He is bouncy and moves great for how big he is. Super coordinated. Gilbert showed on Friday night that he can be a remarkable rim protector. He was blocking a ton of shots and altered many by just jumping with his hands straight up. He absorbed contact very well. Also did a great on his second jump to get the rebound after making the offensive player miss. He also showed the ability to switch screens and guard multiple different positions.

One of the more physical big guys in the 2024 class, Gilbert was dominant in their season opening victory at the All Ohio Preview event. A good frame with impressive vertical pop, Gilbert is a force to throw down a dunk in traffic or swat a shot into the stands. I also saw some outside shooting potential with Gilbert in the game I saw, with no noticeable flaws in his shot mechanics. I’ve watched Gilbert play twice so far and am excited to catch him again this spring and summer.
