Expert Analysis

Heiss had a big time showing at the Midwest Basketball Club Fall League in Columbus, winning MVP honors for the season. I felt like Heiss had a little bit of a late growth spurt as well, continuing to fill out physically alongside the added height. Committed to Mount Vernon Nazarene, Heiss is capable of playing on or off the ball at the next level. Recently up to 1,000 points in his career, expect Heiss to make a big impact with his team looking to win conference and district titles.

Named regular season MVP of the league, Heiss has taken his game to new heights this fall and recently accepted an offer to continue playing at Mount Vernon Nazarene University at the conclusion of his senior season. A great honor for Heiss who has been one of the steadiest guard performers in central Ohio’s 2024 class.

An opposite example to Bowman, Heiss is a prospect I’ve watched well over a dozen times since his Sophomore season. Continuing to develop as an athlete, Heiss has put in the work in the weight room and it’s been paying off. With his improved explosiveness he can beat players off the bounce easier and is a more dangerous transition athlete. Always been a knockdown shooter, Heiss can fill it up from downtown. A name for scholarship programs to check out at the Division II and NAIA level, it would be a steal if a Division III program can sign him.

Another central Ohio guard standout, the lefty shooter Heiss had a big summer with Midwest Basketball Club Quinn. With good size at the combo guard position and able to play on or off the ball, Heiss has a lot of traits that will translate to the next level. After an honorable mention all-state Junior season, Heiss has seen his recruitment pick up with small college programs like Marietta and Denison.

A steady contributor, Heiss had an efficient weekend for Midwest Basketball Club Quinn last weekend. In pool play, Heiss averaged 16.7 PPG and was shooting 60% from the field. An impressive sniper from 3-point range, Heiss converted on nine 3-pointers in the three pool play games. With his shot-making and poise as a lead guard, Heiss continues to impress and projects as a priority recruit for small college programs in the 2024 class from central Ohio.

Heiss was getting it done on both ends and was the best player on the floor for his teams 8 AM contest. Heiss played with impressive defensive effort, picking up opposing ball-handlers in the back-court and giving them fits with his quick feet and hands. Heiss also got going offensively with some off the dribble jumpers and getting to the lane and dishing to a teammate. Heiss has also grown recently, he was 6’1 and now stands at 6’2, 6’3 heading into his Junior season.
