The 2025 Les Schwab Invitational kicks off on Friday, December 26, and for the first time in its history the event will feature 18 teams in the field of competition. To accommodate the extra two teams, the participating squads have been seeded and three teams - Westview, Roosevelt, and Gresham - will start play in the consolation bracket with games beginning on Day One. Also, with the transfer of top nationally ranked senior Tyron Stokes to Rainier Beach of Seattle, the Vikings have been added to the field to replace Stokes' old school, Notre Dame 9Calif.). Due to their schedulre restrictions, Rainier Beach will receive a bye in the first round, and will face the winner of Oregon City and Southridge in the quarterfinals.

Seven games will be played on Friday at Viking Pavilion on the campus of Portland State University - here's a look at the Oregon teams participating and their matchups.

10:30am - Roosevelt (0-3) vs. Westview (5-1)

Westview comes into the LSI with a great start to the season with their only loss of the season a road game against Barlow. The senior-laden Wildcats have been led on a consistent basis by guard Ian Bautista Ian Bautista Ian Bautista 5'11" | PG Westview | 2026 State OR and swingman Dayton Jenkins Dayton Jenkins Dayton Jenkins 6'2" | SG/SF Westview | 2026 State OR , the latter averaging a near double-double, but post Dash Nicely has also been able to put up sone some scoring and rebounding numbers. Roosevelt, which was hit hard by graduation and transfers duriing the off-seaosn, is still looking for its first win of the season as its young core is still figuring things out. Veteran Andrew Kim Andrew Kim Andrew Kim 6'3" | SF/SG Roosevelt | 2026 State OR and Juma Whatley Juma Whatley 6'0" | SF/SG Roosevelt | 2026 State OR are a couple of seniors to watch out for, while transfers Jayden Metcalf and Tylen Metcalf Tylen Metcalf Tylen Metcalf 6'1" | PG/CG Roosevelt | 2027 State OR have made contributions, along with freshman point guard TyVelle Hill TyVelle Hill TyVelle Hill 5'9" | PG Roosevelt | 2029 State OR .

12:00pm - Nelson (6-2) vs. Parkrose (5-0)

Nelson has started off the seaosn 6-2, with their two losses coming to Lake Oswego right and then West Albany in the first round of the Capitol City Classic. The Hawks have not been at full strength as star junior point guard Braylon Gaines Braylon Gaines Braylon Gaines 6'0" | PG Nelson | 2027 State OR has been out and his status for the LSI is not clear at press time. In his stead, Jaydon Schregardus Jaydon Schregardus Jaydon Schregardus 5'11" | CG Nelson | 2027 State OR has been running show and Carter Lockhart Carter Lockhart Carter Lockhart 6'2" | CG/PG Nelson | 2028 State OR has picked up a lot of the scoring load for a team that continues to be one of the deepest in the state. Parkrose has ascended to the top of the 5A ranks and has yet to face an opponent that has come less than 18 points of them. Sophomore Jayden Hall Jayden Hall Jayden Hall 6'1" | SG Parkrose | 2028 State OR has made a splash in his debut in Oregon while well-known names such as Adrian Montague Adrian Montague Adrian Montague 6'1" | PG Parkrose | 2026 State OR , Varryk Hardges Varryk Hardges Varryk Hardges 6'2" | CG Parkrose | 2027 State OR , and Keone Gates Keone Gates Keone Gates 6'2" | PG Parkrose | 2027 State OR have all produced for the Broncos.

1:30pm - Oregon City (7-0) vs. Southridge (6-1)

The matchup between the Pioneers and Slkyhawks is arguably the top game amongst Oregon teams in the first round and it should be an exciting one. Oregon City comes into the LSI on a tear, having won every game by double digits after their opener against Jesuit. Led by a balanced attack featuring Alijah Scott Alijah Scott Alijah Scott 6'3" | CG/SG Oregon City | 2026 State OR , Alarion Scott Alarion Scott Alarion Scott 6'4" | PF Oregon City | 2027 State OR , Eli Hopkins Eli Hopkins Eli Hopkins 6'7" | SF Oregon City | 2027 State OR , and Connor Lemmon Connor Lemmon Connor Lemmon 6'6" | C Oregon City | 2026 State OR , the Pioneers have unquetionaby earned their number one power ranking so far this year. Southridge, who has their share of quality wins and their only loss coming so far to an undefeaed Central (Ariz.) squad , will counter with their own balanced attack. Junior Elijah Thompson Elijah Thompson Elijah Thompson 6'0" | PG Southridge | 2027 State OR has risen to star status and along with the sharpshooting of Drew Groenig Drew Groenig Drew Groenig 6'1" | SG/CG Southridge | 2026 State OR , Brooks Fortune Brooks Fortune Brooks Fortune 5'11" | SG Southridge | 2027 State OR , and Nikko Kalish Nikko Kalish 6'0" | SG Southridge | 2027 State OR have their inside threat of Ryder Zanon Ryder Zanon Ryder Zanon 6'8" | C Southridge | 2026 State OR .

3:00pm - Central Catholic (2-3) vs. Canby (2-1)

A battle between two pre-season favorites at the 6A and 5A levels, both Central Catholic and Canby come into the LSI licking some wounds. Central Catholic may have a losing record so far, but their losses have come against two top Utah teams and on the road against Southridge, but still have one of the most talented rosters in the entire state. Zamir Paschal Zamir Paschal Zamir Paschal 6'0" | PG/CG Central Catholic | 2026 State OR and Robbie Long Robbie Long Robbie Long 6'4" | CG Central Catholic | 2026 State OR have been productive as expected, and when Jalen Nicholson Jalen Nicholson Jalen Nicholson 6'7" | SF/PF Central Catholic | 2026 State OR has been healthy he's been a double-double machine. After opening the year with two wins, Canby suffered a blowout to Clackamas but remain deep enough to compete against 6A foes. As expected, Jaxon Lawson Jaxon Lawson Jaxon Lawson 6'0" | PG Canby | 2026 State OR has led the way at the point and others auch as Ben Twitchell Ben Twitchell Ben Twitchell 6'4" | SF Canby | 2027 State OR , Dane Edwards Dane Edwards Dane Edwards 6'5" | SF/PF Canby | 2026 State OR , and Joe Roberts have increased their production as expected.

5:15pm - Jesuit (5-1) vs. Barlow (4-1)

A rematch of last year's 6A title game - in which Barlow won their first-ever boys basketball championship - sees both schools coming in with good starts to the season. Jesuit dropped their opener against Oregon City but has won every game since and in recent games, senior Sam Curvy Sam Curvy Sam Curvy 6'2" | SF Jesuit | 2026 State OR has shown flahes of dominance while guards Ryan Barone Ryan Barone Ryan Barone 6'1" | CG Jesuit | 2026 State OR , Major Williams Major Williams Major Williams 6'0" | CG/PG Jesuit | 2027 State OR , and Penny Harrison Penny Harrison Penny Harrison 5'9" | PG Jesuit | 2027 State OR have all been stalwarts at both ends of the floor. Barlow's only loss so far is to top-ranked Oregon City and the Bruins have been led by two of the main holdovers from last year's championship team in junior Maddyn Cummings Maddyn Cummings Maddyn Cummings 6'0" | CG Barlow | 2027 State OR and senior Maddox Young Maddox Young Maddox Young 6'5" | SF Barlow | 2026 State OR .

6:45pm - Pace Academy (GA) vs. Tualatin (5-2)

Tualatin enters the tournament with a tolid resume. The Timberwolves dropped a tough game in Southridge's Tournament at the beginning of the seaosn, but have bounced back to win 5 of their last 6, with 3 of those wins coming in the Capitol City Classic. In that tournament, they played Ruston (LA) tough in the semis before defeating touted Webster Groves (MO) in the third place game. As expected, senior Montana commit Jemai Lake Jemai Lake Jemai Lake 6'2" | CG Tualatin | 2026 State OR and junior Pat Vialva Jr Pat Vialva Jr Pat Vialva Jr 5'11" | PG Tualatin | 2027 State OR have been the team's leading scorers, but transfer Takeo McCrae Takeo McCrae Takeo McCrae 6'4" | SF/SG Tualatin | 2026 State OR has stepped into a solid third option - and even led the team in scoring in the win over Webster Groves.

8:15pm - Sierra Canyon (CA) vs. Clackamas (4-1)

Another team whose only loss so far this season has been to Oregon City, Clackamas has proven itself to be a high-octane offensive team with still room to grow. Junior RJ Barhoum RJ Barhoum RJ Barhoum 6'5" | SG/CG Clackamas | 2027 State OR has resumed his high scoring ways from last season, while fellow junior guard Max Martinov Max Martinov Max Martinov 6'5" | PG/SG Clackamas | 2027 State OR has also been impressive in the scoring column. Transfer forward Syrius Owens Syrius Owens Syrius Owens 6'6" | SF Clackamas | 2026 State OR has provided a rebounding and defensive presence the team has lacked the past couple of seaosns.
