Max continued to impress with his combination of athleticism, skill, and relentless competitiveness. A smooth offensive player, Martinov attacks the rim with confidence and is a threat when he gets downhill. He showed the ability to create scoring opportunities for himself while playing a team-first mindset and making the right play. With his offensive talent and athletic upside, Martinov is a player capable of making a major impact whenever he steps on the floor.
There was no single player that we watched that was more dominant than Martinov. He was flat out unstoppable on offense – in a win over Thurston, he pulled out his entire bag with step-back threes, strong pull-ups in the lane, and finishes at the rim in transition. The rising senior guard pretty much did whatever he wanted to with the ball in his hands, which also included finding open teammates for baskets. When it was all said and done, the statsheet showed 29 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and a number of defensive plays. No longer a sleeper prospect but one of the top seniors in the state, Martinov committed early to Santa Clara.
One of the top performers we saw all weekend was unquestionably Martinov, who could be one of the most underrated college prospects in the state. Playing at the point, the Clackamas senior used his size, athleticism, and skill to make plays on both ends of the floor, playing with a great feel for the game. His shot was smooth, his finishes were clean, and his motor was consistently on.
Playing with the Cascade Kings
“Curtis” squad, Martinov shined in all phases of the game. He was on target with his shooting, but the lengthy guard was also crashing the boards on both ends and creating off the dribble not just for himself but also for others. He was extremely active on defense, registering deflections and steals. In previous years he has split his time in the spring playing volleyball as well, but he noted he’s focused on basketball this off-season.
Max who is one of the best combo guards in the 2027 class showed his ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor. A high-energy hustle player, Martinov consistently competes on the glass and helps protect the rim defensively. He’s an athletic player who can elevate, often keeping plays alive with his effort. Offensively, he’s a solid outside shooter with confidence, even flashing a fadeaway three in his arsenal. Martinov also plays with poise, making him a steady and consistent contributor.
