With the graduation losses at Central Catholic, Bongen now steps into a leading role for the Rams and that was clear in the two games we watched him play at the Summer Showdown. The rising senior looked super smooth with his jumper but was also mixing things up by taking the ball to the basket, where he was able to utilize his strength and immense athleticism to create contact and free throw shooting opportunities. In fact, one play where he didn’t even score showed off his elite leaping ability yet drew oohs and aahs was where he skied with his head above the rim in an attempt at a putback dunk but just missed the ball and ended up hanging on the rim. Bongen recently earned a scholarship offer from the University of Portland.

Bongen, an excellent shooter with deep range, is a constant threat you can’t leave open. He’s athletic and fast, using his quickness to get to his spots and create clean looks. A smart offensive player, he understands spacing and timing, making him highly effective within the flow of the game. He also has impressive bounce and can jump out of the gym, adding another layer to his scoring ability. In this matchup against Players Only , he poured in 22 points, showcasing his scoring instincts and efficiency.

Running this year with the Cascade Kings , Bongen was on the “Curtis” squad and led the team in scoring in their very first game. He started off establishing his jumpshot from beyond the arc and then worked his way in, using his strength and athleticism to attack and basketball and finish through contact. He got loose on the break and threw down a couple of highlight reel dunks as well.

Isaac Bongen finished with 11 points, but his impact went beyond the scoring total. He opened the game with a quick four points, then stayed with it and eventually found his rhythm again in the fourth quarter. Even when the shots weren’t falling early, you could still feel his shot-making ability on the floor.

Bongen is a strong, athletic guard with good lift on his jumper, allowing him to get clean looks even when closely guarded. He also contributed on the defensive end, competing and helping on the glass, showing his willingness to impact the game in multiple ways. His blend of strength, athleticism, and shooting touch continues to make him a guard worth tracking closely.

Bongen is a confident sharpshooter who wasted no time finding his rhythm. He knocked down 3-of-4 from beyond the arc in the first half and played with poise and aggression throughout the game. Quick and decisive with the ball, Bongen finished with 20 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists, showcasing his ability to score efficiently while staying engaged in other areas.

An argument could still be made for Bongen as the #1 player in the class – after all, he’s currently nationally ranked in the Class of 2027 by ESPN. Perhaps call it #1a in this update as there’s no question the collegiate potential of the 6-foot-2 guard remains extremely high and his recruitment has reflected that with heavy interest coming from Oregon State and a number of other schools. The First Team 6A All-Tournament team selection is taking his talents to Central Catholic in 2025-26.

Bongen stays on the top of the rankings, given his immense gifts athletically and skill-wise. His statistics weren’t necessarily eye-popping at 12.1 points and 2.9 rebounds per game, but the sophomore guard played on a team-oriented Jesuit squad that advanced to the 6A title game. His talents were on display during the state tournament as he caught fire from three and was simply unstoppable offensively at times.
