He crashes the boards hard and thrives in transition, using his athleticism to create scoring opportunities. The talent level at Central Catholic is undeniable, by my guess, all 6 of their regular rotation guys will play D2 or higher at the college level. With that being said, it’s hard to identify a “sleeper” for today’s game, but we are going with Weatherspoon, an explosive scoring wing to bounce back from a rough outing vs Grant & have an impact today vs Jesuit.

Malcolm Witherspoon continues to show flashes of his upside. He finished with nine points while impacting the game in multiple areas. For a guard his size, he rebounds the ball well, extending possessions and creating second-chance opportunities through effort and athleticism.
Defensively, Weatherspoon competes and stays active, using his athletic tools to disrupt plays. Offensively, he chipped in by knocking down a couple of threes, showing his touch from the perimeter. With his athleticism, willingness to defend, and growing offensive game, Malcolm Witherspoon is a guard with real potential as his role continues to expand.

Weatherspoon is an electric athlete and competitor who will bring it on both ends on a nightly basis. He’s a tough slasher with great bursts and quickness who will absorb contact at the rim and challenge anyone in his way. He’s also a standout on the defensive end with his long reach and trusts his instincts to make plays and force turnovers.

Weatherspoon has been off to a great start this season, shooting the three, getting inside with some physical drives, and showing his impact defensively with his wingspan and aggressive play. He is an assertive player who is going to challenge you on both ends with his activity and toughness, and it’s been a big reason why Mountain View is off to a 3-1 start.

Malcolm is likely one of the most athletic players in this class, being able to drive from the wing and dunk on opposing players if they aren’t paying attention. If he gets the ball when leaking out in transition, it will be an easy dunk that will wow the crowd. He can shoot the three ball really well but does need to work on getting to his mid-range spots to sink jumpers.
