He’s really starting to take a lead role in their offensive attack with a more secure handle and better efficiency with his jumper. That improved ball control is helping him take advantage of his athleticism and length to split defenders and work through more traffic inside. He’s a guy who lives above the rim and continues to be a step above the competition with his explosive finishing. Led Beach with 22 points in a win over Barlow.

Babbs has been outstanding over three EYCL sessions with NW Rotary Rebels, leading the team in scoring (18.9 PPG) and blocks (1.5 BPG). He’s also second on the team in rebounds (6.7 RPG) and third in steals (1.8 SPG), while shooting 55.7% from the field. His athleticism is always going to catch some eyes, but it is becoming more and more functional, which is resulting in bigger stat lines. He’s also continued to improve from 3-point range, and all of these tools also helped him to some standout performances at the Pangos All-American Camp this past weekend. He recently picked up his second Division One offer to Bethune-Cookman and will be a prospect to watch at the upcoming NW June D1 Recruiting Event.

Babbs was another Beach Viking with a strong first half that kept Beach within striking distance, while Tryan Stokes was held to just six points. Babbs, known for his athleticism and play around the rim, made some highlights with alley-oop finishes and blocked shots, but also came up huge from 3-point range, going a perfect 3-for-3 on the day.

The super athletic wing has been a key piece for the Vikings so far this year and has continued with his above-the-rim play that caught our eye this summer. He’s got the length at 6-foot-5, paired with his incredible bounce, to be an excellent defender and rebounder as well. Primarily an around-the-paint and midrange scorer, Babbs also has a knack for working to the line.

Babbs is a versatile and solid athlete with a strong frame who excelled both inside and outside. He was never caught standing still, constantly moving, relocating, and making himself available. He rebounded effectively and stayed active even when the ball wasn’t initially finding him. He looked to finish on cuts, rolls, and put-backs. He spaced the floor well on the perimeter, could hit corner threes at a high clip, and could guard positions 2 through 5.

Another one of the biggest risers over the past year, Babbs has popped with his elite athleticism around the rim on both sides of the floor, but he’s also shown a pretty reliable midrange game. He’s got a long wingspan and has shown a lot to like this summer after moving over to Rainier Beach.

Babbs has already made big waves this summer, and his elite athleticism is really starting to shine through. But he’s also been quietly impressive getting to good spots in the half-court and knocking down shots in the midrange. If he can continue to impact the game defensively and around the rim, and then knock down shots away from the rim, he could be a big breakout player for the Vikings this winter.

One of the biggest risers in the entire state, Babbs dominated the AAU scene with his ability to score from all three levels. His explosive athleticism was on full display, punctuated by highlight reel dunks that left crowds in awe. With his versatile scoring and dynamic presence on the court, he’s set to be a formidable force next year. Coaches should keep a close watch on him as he continues to elevate his game.
