One of the top national prospects in the 2029 class had Duke Head Coach Jon Scheyer courtside to watch him and he didn’t disappoint. I’ve been impressed by the unselfishness of Crawford this week as he hasn’t been chucking bad shots and playing within himself while being up an age group. Late in the game Crawford took over with a mid-range bucket, a 3-pointer to tie the game and an assist in the pick and roll when he was blitzed. Crawford finished the thrilling contest with 17 points on 7/13 shooting. As Crawford continues to fill out his frame he has the offensive talent to start living at the foul line later on down the road.
Crawford is one of the most polished scoring guards in the 2029 class and his shot-creating and shot-making abilities run true to his basketball playing bloodlines. The long, wiry 6-foot-5 combo guard is a fluid isolation creator who can elevate into a smooth pull-up jumper from mid and three-point levels of the floor. Crawford had his passing and playmaking abilities on display during Session IV. He only played in one game on the weekend but dropped an impressive 20 points, including four threes, and dished out four assists.
Rainier Beach led the 3A state tournament in steals and assists, and Crawford’s play on both ends helped establish that fast-paced, team-focused identity. He had three assists and at least one steal in each of their games, and was a crucial part of their 3-2 zone. Their length up top gave teams fits, and Crawford’s juice in transition gave them a big leg up, getting out ahead for easy buckets and running with numbers to get advantage looks. He also came up big for the Vikings behind the arc, accounting for seven of their 13 3PM.
Even as O’Dea clung to a five-point halftime lead, you knew it was inevitable that both Stokes and Crawford got going at some point. Crawford exploded in the second half with four 3-pointers and multiple dunks, on his way to 18 points. A lot of those dunks and threes came off of forced turnovers, and Crawford, along with Stokes and Micah Ili-MeneeseMicahIli-Meneese

, played a huge role atop Beach’s 3-2 zone. Their combined length gave the Irish a lot of problems and led to quick offense.
The talented freshman guard has emerged as the Vikings’ second option this season, which speaks volumes to the maturity of his game, taking a lead role on such a talented team. He is already among the best shooters in the state and continues to show his ability to separate on the perimeter. Crawford has been dealing with a bum ankle, but he will be a key player for Beach when he returns during their playoff run.
No doubt the top freshman in the entire state and easily a top freshman in the entire country. Already holds Division 1 offers and has been showcasing his ability to score from all three levels. He has a smooth crossover, just like his dad, being able to create space nicely and get his shot off to sink it. He runs the court nicely, pushing the pace and out-running opposing teams in the transition game. He’s a star already and the next 4 years with him on the court will be a lot of fun to watch.
One of the more highly touted freshmen in the country, Crawford brings lights-out shooting to the floor but also has an advanced handle that allows him to get to his spots on balance and in rhythm, as well as finding pockets to attack at each level. Has a poise to his game that isn’t common among incoming freshmen and has a lanky frame at 6-foot-4 that suggests even more height and length to come for the talented guard.
One of the most heralded freshmen across the country, Crawford already boasts a handful of offers, including Kansas, Washington, Oregon, and Arizona State. He’s already shown he’ll be a mainstay in the Vikings’ rotation as one of the better 3-point shooters on the squad. He’s also got an advanced feel with the rock and really handles the ball with a poise far advanced for his age.
