About Tyran
Expert Analysis
Aaron Villa | Prep Hoops Scout
Tyran is a overall elite prospect on the wing. He can score with the best of them from all three levels and is a athletic specimen. He has a smooth jump shot from the midrange and the three but he is at his best when he gets physical and takes it to the bucket. He already has a next level frame and often takes advantage’s of weaker players. He plays above the rim and is not afraid to dunk on players. Tyran is a very capable defender and can guard multiple positions. Tyran lead the game in scoring and dominated in one on one’s in practice.

As he has been all season, Stokes was yet again an all-around impactful player who finished the tournament top-5 in scoring, rebounds, steals, top-10 in rebounds, blocks, field goal percentage, and led the tournament by a wide margin in assists. And he didn’t wait around to get going either. Stokes dropped a triple-double (24/12/11) in their first game, and continued to pile on the stats over their next two games, averaging 15.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 3.5 steals in wins over Bellarmine and Lincoln.

It was another all-around dominant performance for Stokes, whose combination of length by the rim, footwork, and vision on the go makes him almost unstoppable. When he drives inside, he has the strength to finish through multiple guys, and if even more defenders come over to help, he’s going to make the right find.

The top ranked player in the country, Stokes has had a strong season for Rainier Beach in Seattle. Still uncommitted, Stokes recently took a visit to Kansas and is being recruited by a handful of west coast programs as well. Stokes projects to be a one and done prospect at the college level and could wind up an all american next season at whichever program he chooses.

Stokes had whittled his list of potential schools down to three (Oregon, Kansas, Kentucky) back in November, but reports as recent as last week suggest he’s expanding his recruitment. Vanderbilt came in with an offer early in December, and Washington is also said to be getting in the mix for Stokes. The consensus top 2026 recruit is in the midst of a dominant season with the Vikings, and has his eyes on a 3A title for his currently 16-1 Rainier Beach squad.

Stokes has lived up to the label of top recruit in the country in his first two games with the Vikings. He’s racked up near triple-doubles in both games (31 pts, 14 reb, 9 ast, 6 stl vs Renton, & 27 pts, 14 reb, 7 ast, 8 stls vs Blanchet). The powerful wing has been gliding through defenses for big dunks, deep threes, and chase-down blocks, providing a ton of highlights early in the year.

This one is pretty self-explanatory. Stokes is the top-rated prospect in the nation and joins probably the most talented team in the state. I can’t wait to see how he helps elevate the guys around him, what sort of matchups we see him in across their Metro games, and just how impactful this versatile wing will be this season.

The number one player in the country is potentially nearing a decision with his school choices being down to Kentucky, Louisville, USC, Oregon and Kansas. The Louisville native has the two in-state high major programs along with west coast Big 10 powers USC and Oregon with Kansas, having middle school AAU teammate Taylen Kinney already committed. Stokes also began playing football this season, using his tremendous height, jumping and explosiveness to excel at wide receiver. It is very hard to be number 1 in the country for multiple years and since Aj Dybantsa reclassified from 2026 to 2025, Stokes has been in pole position in the 2026 class.
