We only have three more days until the NW June D1 Recruiting Event begins. As we get closer to finishing our preview of the event, we now get to check out two powerhouse programs, and one with some younger talent on the rise. Rainier Beach and Rock Canyon will bring some of the top prospects to this event this coming weekend. Each team has D1 talent on its roster, along with depth that can play at other levels. Roosevelt has been a powerhouse in recent years but this team finished 10-15 last year and is led by a young star in the making. Let's get to know these next three teams as we get closer to wrapping up our pre-event coverage of the top PNW recruiting event of the summer.

Rainier Beach (WA)

Classification: 3A

2025-26 Record: 24-0

Key Players

[player_tooltip player_id='2194341' first='KJ' last='Hightower'] 6-2 PG 2027

Very solid two-way point guard who can apply pressure on the ball and rack up steals, and will get on the floor to get after loose balls. Does a great job looking up the floor after receiving outlets, and has been doing some more scoring this spring with NW Rotary Rebels. He put up 13 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 2.2 steals over 12 games on the EYCL.

[player_tooltip player_id='2627284' first='Knowledge' last='Wright'] 5-9 PG 2028

Another guard who helps them go, Wright is a speedy guard who will look to push the rock in transition, can get into gaps, keep his dribble, and work through progressions. Has some solid finishing skills around bigger players in the paint too.

[player_tooltip player_id='2194480' first='JJ' last='Crawford'] 6-6 SG 2029

The number one player in the 2029 class, Crawford is a knockdown shooter, and at 6-foot-6, he is continuously becoming a tougher player to stop at the rim. Has the ability to separate and create his own shots, but also does an excellent job moving without the ball, whether that's in transition or working out of half court sets, he knows where space is and how to attack when he gets the ball. He's picked up offers to Utah, Oregon State, Tennessee, Alabama, Memphis, and Louisville since the start of the spring.

[player_tooltip player_id='2140846' first='Micah' last='Ili-Meneese'] 6-4 SG 2027

A strong guard with the athleticism and balance to be a constant force around the paint. Another supremely talented off ball mover and one of the top rebounding guards in the state, he has an eye for space and flow, and where the ball is going to go. Showing he's a more all-around scorer this spring and building off of a great winter season. He has an offer to Portland State.

[player_tooltip player_id='2388404' first='Wesley' last='Armstrong'] 6-6 SF 2027

A burley post man, Armstrong is a powerful athlete who can finish with force above the rim. There are not many players in the state as strong as Armstrong and that's why most of his looks come around the rim. He's got a big motor, will constantly work for rebounds, set hard screens, and defenders better watch out if they are in his way.

[player_tooltip player_id='2393367' first='Kametrius' last='Babbs'] 6-5 SF 2027

One of the fastest rising prospects in the PNW, Babbs is the type of athlete on the wings who can rule the open floor. Blocking shots, finishing above the rim, or using his length to step around and scoop shots in, he is constantly making plays at the hoop. He's also got a hunger to make those plays. He crashes the offensive glass, looks to work for deflections and contests on defense, and will run in transition. He's got offers to Portland State, Bethune Cookman, Montana, and Montana State.

[player_tooltip player_id='2935311' first='Louis' last='Harris'] 6-9 PF 2029

Harris is a unique talent at 6-foot-9. He already has a good rebounding engine, has excellent mobility and a pretty decent ability to work off the bounce, and is a guy who's getting up and finishing above the rim whenever he can. He had some opportunities to play last season but he may be able to have a more impactful role this winter, even on this densely talented team.

[player_tooltip player_id='2140802' first='Achilles' last='Reyna'] 6-7 SF 2027

Reyna is an impressive athlete at 6-foot-7, who can play with finesse, power, and athleticism. He was being recruited at the D1 level at both basketball and football before his commitment to play football at Oregon, and that high level athleticism shows in his ability to impact the game on both sides of the floor, and his ability to create mismatches offensively. He's a solid player around the paint with good hands and feet, but he also can stretch the floor or attack off the bounce from the perimeter.

Rock Canyon (CO)

Classification: 6A

2025-26 Record: 25-3

Key Players

[player_tooltip player_id='2048131' first='Jacob' last='David'] 6-6 SG 2027

David is a prototypical swingman at 6-foot-6. He can knock down the outside shot, has enough size and athleticism to defend multiple positions, and he can create his own shots. He led Rock Canyon with 18.3 PPG last season, and showed he can operate from just about any spot on the floor, even going to work from post ups, and find ways to score. He has offers from Oregon State, Washington State, Wyoming, and Tulsa.

[player_tooltip player_id='2574721' first='Jonah' last='Medina'] 6-9 PF 2027

Medina is a pretty intriguing post prospect. He stands at 6-foot-9 and already has a strong build while maintaining fluidity and athleticism in the front court. He moves well, can put together some quick moves around the paint to slip by defenders and score, and also has showcased a pretty smooth jump shot that could become a bigger part of his game. He's got plenty of upside and should be one of the top big man prospects at the event.

[player_tooltip player_id='2592262' first='Cooper' last='Ellwood'] 5-9 PG 2027

This kid just plays with a buzz and toughness that translates to a lot of little winning plays for his squad. He's a pesky off ball defender who knows when to slip off and steal/deflect a pass, or strip a ball-handler. Plays with good tempo, freely moves the ball up the floor, and can convert tough plays at the rim. He's a smart guard who will get the ball where it needs to go.

[player_tooltip player_id='3544290' first='Avery' last='Vasquez'] 5-11 PG 2027

Vasquez is another guard who can handle the rock for Rock Canyon. He's more of a shooter than Ellwood, can work as a spot up guy or hit off one-two dribbles, but also does a good job playing with some pace when he gets the rock and helping them get penetration in the half-court.

[player_tooltip player_id='2521759' first='AJ' last='Eggemeyer'] 6-7 F 2028

Eggemeyer didn't get a ton of minutes last season for the 6A state champs, but I would not be surprised to see him worked into the rotation a bit more this winter. They lose their top post Kai Valentine, who is now at Colorado Mesa, and Eggemeyer has shown some potential with his footwork, ability to get up and down the court, and smooth shot at the foul line. He'll be an interesting big man to track at the upcoming D1 event who has some tools to build with.

Roosevelt (OR)

Classification: 6A

2025-26 Record: 10-15

Key Players

[player_tooltip player_id='2910101' first='TyVelle' last='Hill'] 5-9 PG 2029

Just a rising sophomore, the younger brother of NCAA Tournament shining star Terrence Hill Jr (now at Tennessee) has already taken the reins as Roosevelt's top player this summer. The lefty point guard can do it all on the court, using his smooth stroke to hit jumpers, quick dribble to get into the paint, and court vision to deliver dimes to teammates. He's also an outstanding rebounder for his size.

[player_tooltip player_id='2534757' first='Cameron' last='Harris'] 6-3 SG 2028

A long and athletic wing, Harris has emerged as Roosevelt's top secondary scorer this summer behind Hill. The bread and butter for the rising junior is attacking the basket and finishing in acrobatic ways, but has the ability to get hot with his perimeter shooting as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='2125569' first='Tylen' last='Metcalf'] 6-1 PG 2027

Providing motor and high energy in the backcourt is Metcalf, who really excels with his tight man-to-man defense. The rising senior is a slasher on the offensive end, capable of getting to the hoop and drawing lots of contact.

[player_tooltip player_id='2540409' first='Muller' last='Dimoff'] 5-9 PG 2028

Known best for his shooting from the perimeter, the rising junior is a steady ball-handler and passer who plays good team basketball. He's an underrated defender and rebounder as well.
