Ryan Morgan | Prep Hoops Scout
Sanchez has had a big role at Sunnyside since stepping on the floor as a freshman two seasons ago. He’s a high IQ player who can make others around him better with his movement, ability to draw up extra defenders, and quick decisions. Scores well in the midrange and around the paint with clever fakes, hesitations, and footwork.

He’s a highly instinctual player who has all the qualities you look for in a point guard. At Sunnyside, he’s relied on to score the rock, but he’s always playing under control on the attack and is able to locate the right pass and keep a great awareness of where his teammates are and how the defense is reacting. Those instincts help him not only be a great playmaker on both ends, but put him in position to make the little things become big, whether that’s sneaking in for an offensive rebound, recognizing opportunities to push the ball up the floor, or moving to space without the ball.

Sanchez seems to have a great feel for all the action happening around him on both ends of the floor. He plays with pace but under control, can push the ball on the break and consistently make the right decision, and shows great vision while attacking the hoop. He’s a smooth ballhandler and showed some tough finishing through contact in the opening weekend.

Probably one of the hidden gems of his class, Sanchez lit it up this past high school season at Sunnyside and should soon see a lot more attention, starting with this AAU season with Meta Hoops. He’s a dual threat at the point who puts constant pressure on defenses with his ability to knife inside and make plays shooting or dishing. He’s also an active defender who plays with pace and awareness on both ends.

Stepped up to lead his team in scoring this past season while also running the point and distributing to teammates. He’s an ultra-quick player with good stop and go who attacks gaps with his head up, and sees the floor well while operating in heavy traffic. Also a standout on the defensive end, Sanchez shows innate feel for the game across all facets and has a great engine.
