When it came to MVP honors of the game there was no doubt the pick was “Fuzzy”. From the jump, the Parkrose senior was in attack mode and couldn’t be stopped getting to his spots and he converted practically everything he took, whether it was jump shots or getting all the way to the hoop. He wasn’t just looking to score the ball either as he was finding open teammates, grabbing boards, and being an absolute pest on the defensive end. When it was all said and done, Montague finished with a game-high 35 points (an event finals record), 5 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 steals – one of the all-time great performances on record.
Helping out the Hoopers (his father Kenneth is coaching) is “Fuzzy” – and as you might expect from the 5A co-Player of the Year he was dominant was his play. The point guard was a magician with his ball-handling and passing, capably dishing the ball to teammates for scores while also slicing and dicing his way to the basket for his own points as well. His mid-range pull-up was on target and he was a menace on defense in the win. He remains unsigned.
Similar to Paschal, “Fuzzy” is waiting out the transfer portal as a number of the D-I schools he has been talking to are looking at older guards first. He notes that he’s heard from Oregon State, Portland State, UC Riverside, Boston U, Colorado State, and Montana among the D-Is, while a whole host of D-II and national JC programs have been in touch. As he waits things out, he is staying open to the possibility of starting his career at the JC or D-II level.
Montague started the game but may have been at his best when he was paired with Paschal in the backcourt, as both players switched off leading the team in transition. He was sharp with his ball-handling and passing, capably balancing scoring and dishing with 14 points and 4 assists. Where “Fuzzy” really made a difference was his work on the boards, as he grabbed rebounds over bigger players inside – a team-high 11 total.
2025-26 Awards/Honors: 5A Co-Player of the Year (Oregonian), 5A First Team All-State (Oregonian, OSAA), 5A State First Team All-Tournament, NWOC Player of the Year
Breakdown: Transferring to Parkrose was the golden move for “Fuzzy” as he not only garnered a number of significant honors but led the Broncos to their first state title since 1982. The lefty is arguably the top pure point guard in the class and evidenced by his 1300+ career points, he can certainly score the ball too. As he is looking over his collegiate options, he’ll be on Team Oregon in the Northwest Shootout.
Analysis: He is a high-level guard in the 2026 class who brings a complete, college-ready profile on and off the court. An ESPN 4-star prospect and the #2 ranked guard in Oregon, Montague has established himself as one of the premier backcourt players in the state. At 18 years old, he pairs elite production with strong academics, carrying a 3.7 GPA. His on-court résumé is equally impressive—earning Oregon 5A Player of the Year, Conference Player of the Year, 1st Team All-League, and 1st Team All-Tournament honors. Montague averaged 19.8 points, 5.7 assists, 4.4 rebounds, and 3 steals per game, while shooting an efficient 54% from the field. A dynamic playmaker, he impacts the game in multiple ways—scoring at all three levels, facilitating for teammates, and creating turnovers on the defensive end. His feel for the game and ability to control tempo make him a true floor general. With 1300+ career points, Montague has proven consistency and scoring ability over time. He’s also competed at a high level on the national circuit, playing 2x EYBL and 1x 3SSB, gaining valuable experience against top-tier talent. An unsigned senior, Montague presents a strong option for college programs seeking a proven, versatile guard who can contribute immediately.
The dynamic lefty point guard, led his Parkrose team to the first state title in over 40 years. Montague regularly did whatever it took to win, but his pressure defense & pass first mind offensive game, really set the tone for the Broncos. “Fuzzy” is considering college options.
An obvious unanimous selection, Montague would have been our pick as the MVP of the state tournament. The senior guard was in control of the game at the point, carefully managing the game choosing when his own scoring was needed or when it was time to get his teammates involved. He was unstoppable getting to the basket and finishing, averaging 21.3 points on .590 field goal shooting, while also drawing plenty of contact and getting to the line where he converted at a .789 rate. 22 points and 4 assists in the title game against Crook County capped it all off.
Second straight great performance from Fuzzy in the semifinals as he posted a team-high 22 points on 8-for-15 shooting, while dishing out 4 assists against only one turnover. The lefty continued to show a mastery of getting to the basket and finishing while being key component of Parkrose’s pressure defense.
It didn’t matter what defense Canby threw at Montague, he sliced and diced his way through it. Using his quick dribble, shifty moves including a Eurostep or two, the senior guard was able to get to the basket at will and score at a very high percentage (7-for-10 field goal shooting). He posted a team-high 5 assists and was active on the defensive end as well, with 3 steals. A perfect 6-for-6 shooting at the charity stripe helped seal the deal late in the game.
