The 32th Annual Northwest Shootout took place on Sunday as a roster filled with many of the top players from the Class of 2026 in Oregon took on a similar squad from Washington. Overall it was a competitive game that saw Oregon use a huge run in the second quarter to take a 11-point lead into the half, but Washington slowly chipped away and got a big second half from eventual MVP Landen Northrup (26 points on 10-for-15 shooting, 5-for-9 from three-point ramge) to capture the lead and the game, 112-105, to win their second-consecutive Northwest Shootout.

The future Loyola-Maryland greyhound put together perhaps the top all-around performance in the game for Oregon, posting 20 points on 7-for-13 shooting, grabbing 9 rebounds, and dishing out a team-high 5 assists. Long was in control of the basketball whenever it was in his hands and made great decisions in transition, whether it was to go in for the score himself or get it to an open teammate.

Had Oregon captured the win, "Bam" would have been arguably the pick for MVP. The team fell behind early but when the senior guard checked into the game, the feel immediately changed as he simply made things happen. Paschal was unstoppable getting to the basket where he used his quickness and athleticism to finish plays and he was a jet going up and down the floor in transition. He was sharp with his shooting at all levels - 7-for-12 overall and 2-for-4 from three - and finished with 19 points and 9 rebounds.

Montague started the game but may have been at his best when he was paired with Paschal in the backcourt, as both players switched off leading the team in transition. He was sharp with his ball-handling and passing, capably balancing scoring and dishing with 14 points and 4 assists. Where "Fuzzy" really made a difference was his work on the boards, as he grabbed rebounds over bigger players inside - a team-high 11 total.

While his stats may have been eye-popping to some - 17 points and 6 rebounds - those who followed the PIL MVP knew he was capable of doing some damage in the shootout. He attacked the basket practically every time he touched it, and if he wasn't finishing - he shot 7-for-9 from the field - he was drawing the foul. Tough physical play and energy throughout for the future MIT Engineer.

Nicholson posted a solid effort in the Northwest Shootout, registering 15 points on a variety of jumpers both from long range - where he shot 2-for-6 - and the mid-range. While his total only was two rebounds, he did compete on the glass and was solid defensively guarding multiple positions.

Rigney provided a punch off the bench for Oregon, first looking to knock down shots from the perimeter but then moved into attacking the basket, where he finished through contact - including two traditional and-one plays in the second half. He was solid throughout, in addition to his 14 points he also posted 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals - in only 16 minutes of play.
