Expert Analysis

Rigney is continuing to talk to a whole host of programs, but notes he’s been in contact the most with D-Is St. Mary’s (Calif.) and Cal Poly SLO, and D-II Tampa. He remains open to all levels and possibilities as he too waits out the transfer portal like most of the highest-regarded unsigned members of the Class of 2026.

Rigney provided a punch off the bench for Oregon, first looking to knock down shots from the perimeter but then moved into attacking the basket, where he finished through contact – including two traditional and-one plays in the second half. He was solid throughout, in addition to his 14 points he also posted 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals – in only 16 minutes of play.

At 6’7, Rigney impressed us as an all-around shooter with a strong frame and the ability to score at multiple levels. He rarely missed open looks, showed confidence as a scorer, and contributed as a solid, reliable rebounder. Rigney is one of the more underrated players in the PNW, so be on the lookout for him to be an All-State selection this coming year. (AG)

Rigney was one of the more impressive prospects at Holy Cross camp — the 6-foot-6 senior came all the way from the west coast and was successful from virtually everyone on the court. He’s big and lanky, which allows him to finish over bigs in the paint and against smaller guards in the post, but he can also handle the ball and get to the rim against bigger forwards. Additionally, he can also make shots from the mid range and three and does a good job finding teammates once the help comes. I’m sure he’ll get scholarship looks as a result of his size and skillset, but some added muscle and balance would do him wonders in that regard.

Really stepping into a leading role this season has been Rigney, who has become Lake Oswego’s go-to and most consistent offensive weapon under new coach Tully Wagner. The junior swingman has used his length and athleticism well in drives to the hoop but has also been able to knock down the three enough to keep defenses honest. He’s already one of the top scorers in the state at over 20 points per game.
