College Commitment – Brooks Carter (2026 Sherwood)
For Brooks Carter, it was an incredible opportunity to continue playing the game he loves at the college level. So even though Warner Pacific may still be searching for its next head coach, the Knights were looking to add to their freshman class and the opportunity presented itself to the Sherwood senior. The guard jumped at the chance and he's looking forward to contributing however he can to a brand new program coming up in 2026-27.
"Although Warner Pacific is currently looking for a new head coach, (athletic director) Matt Gregg still made me feel at home and excited after meeting with him multiple times," Carter said. "Warner Pacific is close to home and played a huge factor in my commitment. I love that Warner Pacific puts God first and holds there students/athletes to a standard to further their relationship with Jesus."
There was no question the school fit Carter perfectly off the basketball floor. On the court, he feels there are plenty of opportunities for him as well. "The program did graduate a ton of leaders/seniors last year so program is looking for kids to step up and take on roles to compete in this gritty, tough league," Carter said. "I'm coming in to compete and get to work right away, as a point guard I'm looking to take care of the ball, control the game with pace and create for my teammates. I'm ready to play what ever role is needed to help my team win. I'm thankful for the opportunity and haven't stopped working and can't wait for the season."
A steady contributor for the Bowmen, there's no question Carter was a part of something special as Sherwood advanced to its first-ever Chiles Center appearance and came home with a fourth place trophy. "My senior year at Sherwood is a season I will remember for the rest of my life," Carter said. "Playing a role in making school history and making it to chiles was special and set a high bar for the Sherwood Basketball Program in the future. I'm going to remember all the memories with my teammates and coaches and the relationships I've made along the way, from all the bus rides to team dinners and practices."
Our congratulations go out to Carter and his family on his commitment.
