DMV Live S1 lived up to expectations with high-level games, breakout performances and prospects' recruitments heating up as a result of their play. Heading into S2, those standards remain but with many of the same teams as S1, we'll have more specificities to watch closely after our viewings earlier this month.

Here are three main topics that come to mind.

Can Kye Gray continue his onslaught?

Gray finished S1 tied as the leading scorer at 29PPG, but played four games total as the other prospect played just two. The 6-foot lead guard has been nothing short of exceptional for Bethel Academy as he looks to not only be the senior leader this season under new head coach Azhar Shamsudeen, but also the offensive engine. He'll be featured on and off the ball, but unless Bethel enjoys a comfortable lead, he'll have the keys to the offense and has proven in summer league, weekend showcases and DMV Live S1 that he can do so at a high level. He isn't just scoring, Gray is also accounted for seven rebounds and 3.8 assists in the four-game slate. With one offer from UMass Lowell, I'd expect Gray to pick up at least two or three more offers before the summer concludes. They'll face a tough three-game schedule in S2 against Landon, Potomac and St. Frances.

Which team is likely to stay undefeated?

Three programs participating in S2 finished S1 unscathed: DeMatha, Georgetown Prep and Prince George's Christian Academy. Below I'll break down their upcoming schedule and some names to watch.

DeMatha

The hosting Stags rattled off four wins in S1 against Western Reserve, Spalding, PVI and St. Frances. Three of those four wins came in double-digit fashion. Looking at what's ahead, they'll take on Highland, Ambassador Christian, Bishop McNamara and Mt. Zion Prep in that order. It's going to be tough to stay perfect against that group of teams, but the frontcourt of 2027 Danny Abass and 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='2802627' first='Jared' last='Jeffers'] showed real signs of dominance a couple of weekends ago, particularly in their headlining win against PVI. Abass was one of the true stock-risers of S1 when you factor the number of offers he has reeled in while Jeffers continues to prove himself to A10 and power conference programs.

Taking into consideration the slate of opponents DeMatha has this go around, I see them getting their number called for at least one of these matchups.

Georgetown Prep

Prep simply dominated any team put in front of them for S1, finishing 4-0 with an averaging win margin of 24.5PPG. As they set their eyes towards S2, the caliber of competition improves as they'll play in three games starting with Mt. Zion Prep before moving on to McDonogh and concluding their June Scholastic Live Period against PVI.

The backcourt of 2027 Evan 'Bruiser' Edwards and 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='2454539' first='Jarrard' last='Desire'] will be one of the more proven, battle-tested duos you'll find in the DMV this season. The two have great chemistry and complement each other's games well as being guards who can toggle on/off ball and provide balance as scoring threats. The progression of 2028 [player_tooltip player_id='2524416' first='Majok' last='Aguek'] has been most notable to me, as the 7-footer has shown strong evidence in being the next anchor around the rim for head coach Howard Blue as Sinan Huan (Purdue) filled the role the past two seasons.

I'll peg PVI as the biggest threat to end Georgetown Prep's perfect DMV live showing, but if they defeat all three of these teams come Sunday afternoon, it will only booster their already high expectations for the 2026-27 season.

Prince George's Christian Academy

PGCA flew a bit under the radar considering their 4-0 showing in earlier this month despite decimating opponents by an even larger margin than Georgetown Prep at 24.7PPG. For S2, I don't see them slowing down in their four-game slate against Mount Carmel, Academy of Central Florida, St. James Performance Academy and Landon.

What makes them so effective is the number of weapons they have throughout their rotation that can all do damage as a scoring threat. The 2027 trio of Oladeji Olorungbunmi, Deuce Adams and [player_tooltip player_id='2470549' first='Makel' last='Minor'] are three prospects all very familiar with DMV-level competition. 2028 [player_tooltip player_id='2705135' first='Jordan' last='Fox'] provides electricity as a scorer and defender to keep things at an up-tempo pace and our current No. 2 overall ranked prospect in 2029, [player_tooltip player_id='2536485' first='Nas' last='Abraham'], holds things down in the paint with a 6-foot-10 frame and isn't shy about using it.

Ultimately, I think the path favors PGCA in remaining unbeaten once the dust settles on S2. The one matchup that makes me nervous about the prediction is Academy of Central Florida, who has been a regular visitor to DMV Live and is always good for a big win or two before heading back home.

Who are some 'breakout' candidates?

What I mean by breakout doesn't mean someone who comes out of nowhere, as the majority of these teams participated in S1, but rather guys who have a chance to make some noise with splashy performances and either enhance their already established recruitments or spark some initial activity to get their names on radars.
