-Purnell’s stock remained mostly the same in a junior year that was sidelined by minor injuries in new threads with Mt Zion Prep. Purnell is a strong scoring guard that can create his own shot from either elbow, bully his way to the rim, and rebound the basketball well for his position. With his size, quickness, and frame- he has the upside to develop into a tough-nosed POA defender that is difficult to screen at the top of the key.

Enrico is continuing to prove well as a scoring guard. He will be making the transfer to Mt. Zion this upcoming season, but that won’t take away from his scoring output. Enrico makes his baskets off the dribble or from spotting up on the perimeter. Shoots the ball weel over contests with his athleticism, so his midrange game is already levels beyond his peers. I liked Enrico’s confidence the most , continuing to get to his shot knowing it will drop through the course of the game. Watch for Purnell in the rankings as he enters his senior year with more of a green light.

-The lefty shooter has continued to improve as the season has went along for an MSJ team that has won 5 straight games. Purnell’s handle has smoothened to get him to his spots and his 1 or 2-dribble pull-up from either elbow coming from the opposite slot is a really difficult shot to defend. His fluidity as a scorer that can create pretty good looks–especially at the end of shot clocks/quarters– makes him a valuable piece for the Gaels.

-Skilled scoring guard is starting to put it together, impressing with a consistent and fluid pull-up jumper at the elbows that began to open up driving lanes to the rim after a couple makes at the Top 250 Expo. Purnell’s handle has improved to create room for his jumper and dribble to space to avoid doubles– but it needs to tighten up to allow him to change directions quickly and cut down turnovers as an on-ball creator. If Purnell can consistently knock down C+S looks from the wing and ratchet up the defensive intensity, he could factor into MSJ’s rotation this season.

-Lefty shooter, midrange pull-up is pretty much automatic. He is a pretty good passer when he’s coached to do so, crosscourt drive and kick to the shooter and a great look-ahead dime from halfcourt to a sprinting teammate under the rim for a layup. Can play on or off the ball, more successful off of it because of the shooting consistency but he attacks closeouts well and finds the right passing option off of offensive rebounds. Conditioning has improved as he’s grown but he’ll need to ramp up the quickness in his first step to get by defenders more consistently at the varsity level. Will be interesting to see where he shakes out in MSJ’s rotation
